Looking to start collecting jumpers, just wondering where you guys started.

What was your first jumper/guernsey? Do you buy jumpers often? Should I go for just matchworns and P.I's or should I go for rarer TAC CUP and local league jumpers? How much is too much for a jumper?

I started with retail North Melbourne jumpers. I then moved onto PI's. I am now interested in buying one off or awesome jumpers of any team now. E.g Saints new 140 years jumper, essendon heritage, swans 30 years in sydney etc.

Matchworns are generally the more 'upmarket' jumpers in terms of footy jumpers. Things to look for on matchworn jumpers to tell if they're authentic:
- Reasonably slim looking
- Sublimated numbers with AFL logos at the bottom of the numbers.
- GPS pocked and/or stitching
- Certificate of authenticity or COA (not always included in ebay matchworn jumpers, but should always be included off club auctions)

Note that if a jumper is listed as Player Issued, it doesn't necessarily mean that it has been worn in a match. Also, depending on the player the price range will vary.

Expected price range:
- RETAIL: Youth - $70-$100 Adult: $80-$120
- *PLAYER ISSUED: Rookie - $50-$90 ~ Lower class player - $60-$100 ~ Mid-range player - $70-$130 ~ Main Players - $150+
- *MATCHWORN: Rookie - $60-100 ~ Lower class player - $80-$120 ~ Mid-range player - $100-$160 ~ Main Players - $200+
- Also, I believe if you see any heritage jumper from any of the heritage rounds, for less than $130, snap it up. The values of these will increase dramatically in the coming decade as they really are a footy jumper collector's item at a reasonable price.

*Means that these are generally only available to bid on from http://www.aflauctions.com.au/ unless resold on ebay.

I would suggest having both. Have the buy it now price about $25 more than the starting bid price. It also depends on what guernsey your trying to sell. PI, matchworn, retail etc. The price does vary.

Best way to start is to buy your first one. Once you get it in the mail you'll be fiending for more.

jackjersey.com for all NBA jerseys. Theres a thread on the basketball board and pretty much everyone has said theyre brilliant. Careful with sizing though as they run big. Apparently a small is like a medium and a medium is like a large.

I didnt really start collecting as such until early this year. I had always loved the eagles and had plenty of guernsey's over the years and the last one I had bought was an 08 retail home one I know the hate for that guernsey but we wont get into that.

The first P.I I got was a Kerr 25th and from there it grew to what it is today, not huge compared to others on here but Im happy with it at the moment.

I've had far more important things to deal with then a typo in a thread title. Such as Telstra being dicks, for one.
