The value of bench cover

The quandary that is R3

Where the best captain loophole position is? Is it now m11 rather than r3
This. Definitely considering a playing ruck as R3 this year (if one starts) and going to M11 for the loophole. Would be interested in thoughts.

It's still too early to determine who a viable R3 is unfortunately. The popular choice is Darcy Cameron but John Longmire calmed those expectations yesterday and said he is behind Sinclair and Naismith. Outside of that the only other on people's radar is Tim English (134k). I'd also say Pittonet (129k) a chance for games this year at Hawthorn but its a wait and see. Ceglar (266k) back will limit his chances. If you want to spend some bank you could go to Lycett (277k) who would cover for an injured NN if he did go down. I'm also interested in Lobbe (253K) and his role at Carlton. Is he back up? I can't imagine you recruit him over Kreuzer after a PB year but maybe they want 2 rucks in the side. If so you would have to think that Lobbe goes number one ruck and Kreuzer is the ruck/fwd swing (We suggest this potential in our podcast). Archie smith (224k) should get more games this year and perhaps even some solo ruck duties depending on Martin's output.

My personal opinion is if none of these put their hand up by round 1 then i would loophole R3 and sideways trade where required but get the 2 most reliable big men in the comp. Perhaps a Ryder/Grundy/Jacobs instead of Gawn/NN - and if you get lucky you will be well ahead of the rest of Supercoach.

Think you are spot on. I am hopeful that an R3 will emerge, hopeful. No confidence whatsoever. Looking at a money making R2. Worked terrifically with Witts last year.

Still no love for Stephan Martin ???

Stef isn't all doom and gloom when Smith plays but it depends on how Bris play him. Archi is more of a filler player rather than anything special. I really like Stef and have had him the past few years.

10 good tons for the season, starts the years strongly ......and resiliant

Good job lads only through a couple of eps but really well done.
Cheers bud! We've been blown away by the support. Had over 1200 listens in the first 10 days and now over 200 followers on Twitter. Hope everyone enjoys the content. Feel free to ask any questions we can answer on future recordings. Our next recording takes place on Saturday and will be Port through to West Coast. We are also doing an AFL Prospectus podcast that will cover quirky facts from team to team. Should be lots of fun.

Interesting quirk - Rockliff lead the league for clearances for the first 8 rounds of the year. Stef would have benefited from this scoring wise greatly. He now doesn't have Rocky to tap too. Ryder does however....

I'll just leave that there.. lol

Mods what do you think the best way to get the podcast among the BF community? Do you want individual posts in a designated thread or is it fine just the way it is? We have 9 episodes now.

Good comments .... but did Rocky get first touch from Martins taps, or was he the extractor of ground balls .... if the latter, Martins scoring is unaffected

I would be more worried if it were Beams that had left

look, i've got no fuss with how it is going at the moment. Post the link in here and if people listen, thats great.

I personally don't want a new thread for every single podcast, because it will take up space and push the other threads down the list a bit.

Stef a gun and unequivocally our number one ruck. It's just that we seriously have to start pumping games into Archie or Omac at this point. Whilst it's possible Stef goes around again I think as a team we really need to know where we stand with our future ruck stocks and I think we'll give both of them the chance to prove they can be the number one when Stef hangs up the boots. That fear alone is keeping me right away from Stef this year. Sucks because otherwise I'd probably have him locked in considering the ruck options and prices this year.

Hawthorn podcast is up - Have a look if you are interested :) Appreciate any feedback :) Also available on itunes and stitcher

Burnt through all your episodes in the last two days. Really great stuff guys, pretty good analysis of players and strategy. Although, Sicily was a glaring omission from your Hawthorn episode, maybe you can revisit him when you do your positional episodes - he's definitely SC relevant this season.

He became more relevant in the last few days - With Stratton and Frawley back the thoughts were that he would become again SC irrelevant this year. Frawley apparently did his groin on Friday night which has opened up a door, however it will be definitely role dependent. I would consider him a good draft option but with such volatility surrounding his role i would be very cautious selecting him in standard. Too high risk with not enough reward IMO. We cover this more in our most recent podcast which covers some quirky facts about the AFL Prospectus including a snippit of Sicily.

Our Special Edition podcast with some quirky facts coming from the AFL prospectus. Cheers for the support
