Couldn't find previous posts about teams playing each other in consecutive weeks (in the same season).

I wanted to know the biggest turnaround in consecutive weeks. eg. Essendon v Richmond, +94 from R22, 2001 to QF, 2001

Just wondering where North would rank if they win next week after getting smashed tonight.

North's aggregate jumper numbers in Round 23 was 554 (25.18 avg). Has there ever been a higher aggregate?
Might go looking
Some of the 80s-90s I wouldn't be shocked if it got so high.
With reserve squads and numbers going higher I wouldn't be shocked if some creep high.
I've just looked at 3 random 1991 Crows squads and have the Crows already up to 24.65 average (20 players)

Other than war years when teams didn't play in the league, is this weeks Adelaide-Geelong game the longest time between 2 teams playing each other?

Yes

I am going to guess James Kelly and Steve Johnson will set a record for longest stretch between making both their club debuts and club final games in the same matches.

Not sure if this is the record as my numbers come from the old AFL stats site and the guernsey numbers weren't 100% reliable, but Melbourne adds up to 650 here.

http://afltables.com/afl/stats/games/1966/071119660611.html

And before anyone asks, #10 worn by Richmond's Graham Gahan in R17-18 1961, and Kevin Sheedy in R16 1976, is the "highest, lowest" guernsey number for a team as far as I can tell.

1968 - coming into the last round ( final 4 system) Geelong 3rd were safe StKilda 4th were 2 pts ahead of Richmond 5th ( reigning premier - a champion team everyone feared and obviously didnt want in the finals)

Last round StKilda played Geelong and Saints had to win to keep 4th spot ahead of Richmond . However if Geelong won - their " reward" was that they would have to play Richmond in 1st weeks of finals - which obviously didnt want - the common thought was ( they didnt rest players) was that they threw the game and let StKilda win- so they would play them in week one of the finals

Last round 1968 StKilda 110 d Geelong 59 51 point win

Next round 1st semi Geelong 127 d StKilda 83 44 point win

95 point turn around - basically did exactly what North did/are hoping to do - without resting players

What is Carlton's biggest aggregate loss to an opponent over a season? 195 to Hawthorn this season must go close

What is the record overall as well?
Have found a 149 and a couple in the 130s, but that's it so far.

LOL, in 1898 Carlton lost to Essendon 9-77 and 8-75!

In the final H&A round, Brisbane (18th and last) conceded 122 points yet still won, and to a finalist mind you.

Highest score conceded by a bottom side (1987-2015) in the final round in a victory?

Fremantle, the Western Bulldogs, Adelaide and North Melbourne all lost this weekend.

Instances of 4+ finalists losing in the last H&A round?

In 1901 they lost to Essendon three times by a combined 208 points.

Highest combined losing margin in a season where the club also won a match against the opponent is 175 in two games, Port v Geelong in 2007.

Not looked it up but given Melbourne lost by 190 points in one single meeting against Fitzroy in 1979 I am tipping the second game they lost by more than 5 points...
I am sure there are quite a few of 200.

Essendon lost to Swans by 162 points in a game in mid 80's , probably 1986 so that probably around 200 too.
Melbourne lost to Cats by about 180 a couple of seasons ago but cannot remember if they meet twice in that season. As we know, some teams do not play twice any more in home and away.

Fremantle, the Western Bulldogs, Adelaide and North Melbourne all lost this weekend.

Instances of 4+ finalists losing in the last H&A round?

2013 - Fremantle, Sydney, Collingwood, Port Adelaide (3rd, 4th, 6th, 7th)
2001 - Essendon, Hawthorn, Sydney, Adelaide (1st, 6th-8th)
1999 - West Coast, Carlton, Port Adelaide, Sydney (5th-8th)
1998 - Western Bulldogs, St.Kilda, West Coast, Essendon (2nd, 6th-8th)
1997 - Adelaide, Sydney, North Melbourne, Brisbane (4th, 6th-8th)

Only the 14th time that the wooden spooner has won its final game. Previous high score conceded in a win - 91 by Brisbane v St.Kilda 1998.

Actually I looked it up and Melbourne lost to Fitzroy by 23 points then 190 points in the same season of 1979.
213 in total.
As I seen now Ron has listed a table above with some other similar big differences over the season.
For some reason the Fitzroy one does not appear on there.

Brisbane are not the wooden spooners in 2015. That win helped them avoid it.

Ah yes, it's late and I stuffed up, wouldn't want to take the #1 pick off you! The number of wooden spooners winning their last match remains at 13.

Brisbane's win is the 27th time that the last-placed team has won its final match, and the 15th where the feat enabled the team to avoid the spoon.

Previous high was Brisbane conceding 113 to Richmond in 1987, while winning the match and swapping places with Richmond in the process. Cue Richard Lounder...

Three times - 1910, 1924 and 1991 - the last-placed team defeated the top team in its final game, although in each case the top team was still the minor premier.
