He played a great finals series.

He's just so cool with ball in hand. Keeps his head when everyone around him is losing theirs.

It was really evident in the QF because he’d been missing on KB. Got it out of our backline and past the wall.

I think the club should build a statue to his right leg for that phenomenal kick that basically won us the flag.

You know for years I’ve been complaining about his dinky little 25 metre kicks that Fien fall short, then on the biggest stage of all he pulls off a monster kick like that and wins us the grand final.Amazing.😀

He’s a champion of the club. And as others have said,a big time player as well, which he showed in spades on Saturday.

He cemented himself as an all-time great of the club with that finals series. And it wasn't just the legendary 60 metre goal to seal the premiership.

In the passage of play where Howe gets his ribs broken, Sidey pulls out the most clutch trap and gather of a chaotic ball, on the last line of defence, with Charlie Cameron sweating on him just a metre away. It's a certain goal to Brisbane if he so much as fumbles.

But he bodylines the footy and saves the day with the cleanest piece of handling you'll ever see, in the hottest situation you'll ever see. It's at the 20 minute mark here:

Just absolutely obscene from the man of Steele. He didn't just win us the flag, he saved us the flag, too.

So good. 27 minutes of sheer viewing pleasure.

Just realised that Steele saved the goal against the Giants and kicked the sealer against the Lions.
He saved several goals with incredible loose ball gathers throughout the finals series. Huge defensive efforts from an old man on the wing :p

to think, a couple of us wanted him out a few years ago....were we out of our minds?
maybe we can trade him next year for ginni...
A couple here didn't want Jeff Browne, Craig Kelly, Graham Wright and a myriad of current premiership players.
In hindsight they should have listened to Fat.

One of the things that made me the happiest was watching these two old blokes win another flag together.
I agree, but on a different level, how great for Nick?! Second season and he’s already a player who has won, and performed well in, a GF. He will go through his entire career with none of the fear, none of the weight of disappointment of those who came before him. Unburdened. Ready to simply tear the competition asunder. It’s going to be ****ing beautiful to behold.

It’s an interesting debate. His longevity far surpasses his competition (Millane & Merrett)
His got longevity, high peak with an AA and two premierships with one of those finals series he was quite good in and the other he was class above with clutch. Not sure what else he has to do.

In terms of attributes he has everything other than elite pace. Run all day, strong overhead, strong in defensive one on ones, smart positioning, good contested ball wining, composed in space and in traffic, good ground the goals and good on both sides of his body.

Not sure what else he has to do.

Such a bullshit bump. Howe should’ve got a 50m due to it being off the ball. Cameron is a POS

Next year he overtakes Tony Shaw with the number of games played.

If it wasn’t for Pendlebury he’d be the most capped player in Collingwood’s history.
