From th guys drafted after Schammer.
Watson, Crowley and Rivers are the only guys i would choose over Schammer.
and for the guys drafted before him.
Wells, Goddard, Mcveigh, McIntosh and Salopak the only guys i would prefer.

By my reconning that puts him top 10 from that draft and he was taken @ 13.

Add Brennan (Jared), Mackie, Selwood (WC one), Simpson and Ebert. Winderlich is line ball with Schammer.

Overall though Schammer would be a good pick up at 13 though, Solid footballer, nothing more, nothing less. The 2002 draft was terrible...Yet to see one superstar. Godddard- was on his way to being a star but the knee held him back. Wells is inconsistent, you can feel he can rip a game apart but he doesn't yet (consistently). He seems to be on auto-pilot, just waiting to show more. Still waiting...

Brennan has the tools but he lacks application i think. Makes the simple look hard and the hard, simple. I don't think we'll see the best of him for a while, maybe when he's around 27/28 in his prime we'll see him turn it on for a season or 2. He's got everything though, just needs to learn he needs to also get the basics right first. Salopek, McVeigh and Mackie all had very good years this year, should be at least very good players if not "stars" in the future. Not there yet but on the right track.

Anyway, back on topic. Well at least Freo have the balls. We were coping it a bit when we passed on Ebert but took Dangerfield instead. However after seeing him play a bit we now know why we took him over Ebert. The Freo recruiting team would have spent many many days looking at Hill and Rich. They'd know them back to front. I'd trust them over Bigfooty.

Malcheski, Simpson, Merrett, Lonergan, Selwoods are all better than Schammer aswell.

The more I think about it:

WORST case with Hill = Brady Rawlings (elite tagger) with much more athleticism and a better offensive game :thumbsu:

WORST case with Rich = Mitch Morton / Sylvia style HFF

Malceski isn't, I'd take Malceski over Schammer anyday, even with the knee.

I take him over Schammer if he did it again and was mid-rehab. We could just amputate and he would still hit more targets by (prosthetic) foot.

Your taking a bigger risk with Hill then if you pick Rich. If you think otherwise your kidding yourself.

Is this a reason why Quayle thinks Rich might fall?

Yarran would still be a Dale Thomas or possibly a Medhurst if he doesn't develop into a midfielder.

Not sure if Essendon needs yet another of this type of player when they have Davey, Lovett, Reimers, Jetta, Prismall and Monfries who can play HFF/midfield.

You are kidding yourself if you think you have any idea about what you are talking about.

Hmm...a small skinny player in Hill with questions over his disposal or Rich who's only question mark is endurance which is pretty much a myth created from him not taking part in the Draft Camp.

Don't get me wrong Hill could very well end up the better player. But he could also be a flop. Hill is a bigger risk. I think it's safe to say Rich will be a solid midfielder at the very worst.

But hey since Fremantle are getting Hill he must be better in every single aspect :)

surely taking someone with an outstanding work ethic is less a risk than taking someone who has a questionable one?

work rate is what seperates the great players and the GOPs

Rich has a good work rate all this rubbish came from the U18 champs when he could not handle a tag. Not many kids his age can handle a tag either. Heck even the best players in AFL at times can not handle a tag thus people claiming he cant shake the tag and maybe because he doesn't try hard enough.

No it comes from his entire year, both at u18s and WAFL (he was never tagged at WAFL level)

at this stage he looks like becoming a HF simply because he cannot run out a game and he is not a natural ball winner

You muppet have you actually watched him play..? Cannot run out a game? Not a natural ball winner that's Rich (excuse the pun)

I'm sure if it was Rich Fremantle were selecting people like you would be pumping him up and then talking about some dodgy info they found on BigFooty about Hill.

I also like the bit where you go his not a natural ball winner. If you have actually watched Hill play he is the one who HEAVILY relies on people getting him the ball if Fremantle need a natural ball winner you's are shooting yourselves in the foot by passing on Rich.

of course I have watced him play - why would I comment otherwise?

let me ask you this, if he really does work hard and he can win the ball and he has an outstanding kick, why will he not be in the first 5-6 players selected tomorrow?

1. Watts (Melbourne need a forward)
2. Naitanui (West Coast need a ruckman)
3. Hill (Fremantle have a track record of being stupid)

Will either go 4 or 5.

So what are freo almost certain to take Hill now or what??

Port have also said that they will take Hartlett over Rich if the selection is open!!

Essendon cant see them letting Rich go!!

If they do would expect the lions to get him!!

How sure is Hill of going to freo now??

Let Stephens footy do the talking. Maybe all you idiots should shut-up and stop living on hype and utter crap that gets psoted by silly bigfooty members who think they know it all but really they are just making crap up or guessing what a players future is going to turn out like.

Fremantle , Good work on picking up Hilly and I will be purchasing a membership just so i can see him play next year :thumbsu: He will give you all his heart and talent.
