Lol. Pretty much everyone in the SA footy media other than Rucci is a Crows supporter and quite a few aren't afraid of showing it.

A) I've not heard a whiff of a rumour like that, nor any Crows supporter I know. Certainly not been discussed on our board.

B) what kind of knob starts a rumour about his on-air partner's sons unless uber-flog was the one who told him. One of them made it up i'm sure, under the whole 'Port told Kane he is tradeable, so that means every Club has spoken with them' rule.

Cause i am sure Port cant afford some one playing for some one else and we are not going to have much room in our cap

They show their colours just as strong as the Crow guys show their colours.Its just that Cornes and Crowe are every day where as Ebert and Rooch are only once a week and Ditts and Francou are once a week during the Footy season

Other than Rooch, can you name examples of where any of the others have acted/reported/sensationalised etc negatively against the crows?

I reckon you would have to think long and hard before you could come up with too many examples, especially from guys like Russell and Wilbur.

On the other hand we can narrow down the efforts (at having bs shots at PAFC) from people like Cornes/Rowe/Wildy/Mcdumbass/KG/Capel/Feldstadt etc etc to sections of the day.

I dont particularly care anymore but seriously, if you crowies think that the PAFC and AFC get equal 'positive/negative' media coverage I wanna know what drugs your taking...

granted, i was just responding to the notion that Rucci was the only Port supporter in the football media.

Fact is, when one team has been in the AFL 19 years and one 13 years, you are going to see more ex-players/coaches from the AFC than the PAFC (and they are who you are really referring to - Capel is just a crap journo). The same thing happens in Perth where Freo supporters constantly whine about all the ex-Eagles in the media. If they don't get footy gigs at the end of their career then they end up in the media.

It's what they are paid to do and they will always go where the money is and what keeps them in business.

why would they? the fact its a 2 team AFL town doesn't mean it will be 50/50 - what makes you think it would? If the fan base was 50/50 you would see a more 50/50 coverage. The media is a business, its not there to tell you the news, its there to make money. Who do they market to? the one that makes them money. What is the difference in circulation sales of a Tiser with McLeod on the front compared to Tredrea? In fact what are the circulation sales of a 10 year retired Tony Modra compared to a Tredrea?

There is a saying in LA, "thank god I'm not a Clippers fan". Man Utd/Man City, West Coast/Freo, NY Giants/NY Jets there is always one club getting more attention than the other. The media in Melbourne is no different, certain clubs sell more papers and rate more than others. How often is Port discussed on Before The Game, After the Game, On the Couch, The Footy Show, One week at a time, Footy Classified, Sunday Footy Show etc and so on. Its the exact same argument. We don't rate there, so the media rarely talks or writes about either of us.

I thought we were comparing media people showing their true colours.I was just saying that the Port guys fly your flag just as hard as the Crow guys fly ours

You are 100 per cent correct Ebert,Ditts,Francou and Abba dont dump on us like the pro Crows media dump on you.No argument from me on that one

Agreed, for the relative supporter base Port do get a good run with the media in terms of air time or how much is printed. In terms of what attention any team outside Melbourne gets compared with those from Melbourne it's not even close. Half the Crows/Port boys would be thrown about as AA certainties if they played in Vic if for no other reason most footy journo's in the country would seem em every week in the flesh.

For Port, the major gripe most of us have is that while the coverage is good in terms of amount by the time you separate out the negative/sensationalist/conspiracy theory stories there is not much left. 'Live the Creed' is and was a marketing slogan to do two major things reconnect with those old Maggies fans who felt the Power were PAFC watered down and create a distinct difference between us and the Crows. The response it got was totally ridiculous and a classic example of just how small minded some people who are in the media are.

IMO Rucci is a whole different kettle of fish.

We have had ten+ years of rucci's rubbish and while there are pro-crows people out there noone sets out to deliberately antagonise supporters and IMO uses their position to try and promote Port while trying to continually cast a negative light of the Crows like Rucci does.

What Rowe said on the radio about Burgoyne leaving was disgraceful, to his defense he was atagonised by Port supporters trying to dish out barbs at the crows whereas Rucci made a conscious decision to continually use the roast for a number of week to basically laugh at the crows about Welsh and Hudson leaving. Lets not forget how many weeks of Welshy's fun factor meter did we have to put up with in the roast etc, Add Hudson to the mix as well and was there any other reason to point it out continuously other than trying to make a mockery of the club and supporters for them leaving ??? Yet he writes with such vitriol about Stevens yet Welsh and Hudson leaving was apparently funny and was an ongoing joke in the roast each week. Lets not forget about how he was trying to claim that toyota were going to walk out on the crows sponsorship deal at the end of 2002 with apparently no new sponsor in sight. Also harassing Gary Ayres every press conference because he left Geelong with a year to go on his contract. St Neil, Bad boy Ben Hudson, Thompsons betting meter, digs at AFC board members, Big W dvd sale (which was his barb at the supporter base for snubbing the showdown), the list goes on and on. You can also throw in phoning the AFL to notfy them that Burton had carryover points to increase his suspension, costing us Bryce Gibbs (despite knowing it was the same calculation that Port used for Ebert), trying to stop Dangerfield from playing in the VFL competition.

We have been told for years, "precious crows supporters", "suck it up", a few rumours here and there and some recent bad press IMO doesnt compare to the garbage and underhanded tactics that Rucci has subjected us to over the years.

You have some points with the other ones (but it's no worse than what Rowe or Graham Cornes have done) but you do realize that if Thompson grew a pair and actually followed through with the bet, there would've been no reason for that counter, right? He deserves everything he gets for being a welcher.
