Anyone want to have a stab at who this will be?

There were rumours Bruno Cullen was approached, but knocked it on the head saying if he was younger, he would be more than interested in rebuilding the club.

The announcement will be made next week.

You bought the 99 premiership?

Is the only one I can recall Melbourne winning? :)
Funny that. I have two DVDs and two scarves that clearly state we won the 2007 and 2009 premierships.
I was trying to inject some humour and yes I realise you were too. Roll on 2011.

hehe

There are some MIA (On most threads) regulars I wouldn't have tried that on.

& yup bring on 2011, an under the cap, competitive Melbourne is good for RL :thumbsu: Let's hope my boys get a trip down here next year, last two times down here have been 2 point thrillers :)

Ron Gauci

Melbourne Storm name new CEO

MELBOURNE Storm have announced the appointment of Ron Gauci as new chief executive of the embattled NRL club.

The Victorian businessman replaces Frank Stanton, who has been acting chief executive since revelations of the club's salary cap rorting became public in April.

Storm chairman Stephen Rue said Gauci had the skills required to rebuild the club following the breaches, which resulted in the Storm being stripped of two premierships and docked of all points this season.

Don't like that he has had no involvement with sport etc.. but sounded impressive today on the radio. Has the passion for the job definitely.. whether he is qualified for it is another thing.

I wish him all the best.
Campbell ROse had no idea who 90% of the AFL Western Bulldogs players were when he took over. Was not a an aussie rules fans in the slightest.
Has done an amazing job for that club.
Welcome aboard Ron.:thumbsu:

he has had plenty of involvement in sport over the years. maybe not at the highest level but all the same has still had plenty of involvement.
ron will do a great job of cleaning up the mess the previous clowns left it in. he is a very passionate man when it comes to business and sporting organizations. he is also someone who the fans will come to appreciate as they get to see him work to turn your club around. good luck ron , i jnow you will do a great job.( yes i am related to him)

He's a CEO, IMHO his sports history is largely irrelevant.

In this role, we need someone who knows Melbourne, knows Melbourne business. If he ticks those boxes, then that's good enough for me.

As CEO, he will employ people beneath him to advise on the football aspect (On & Off Field / Recruitment, Marketing etc) who are experts.

The Storm needs someone who has a rep on Collins St. I think he ticks that box.

^ Typical Aussie hating non citizen

LoL

I don't hate Aussies, some of my best friends are Australian.

However, I was in a shop yesterday wearing my Warriors pullover that I have and some bloke (worked at the shop) who I'd never met asked me if I was a Warriors fan and then a Kiwi. I promptly replied yes. Within no more than a minute he came out with two sheep jokes. They were quite funny if somewhat boring, but typical of the sort of attitude you Aussies continue to impress on my wife, son and myself.

I often consider about citizenship, but then think WTF should I when people continue to make fun of where I come from?

Considering you don't stand for our national anthem, you clearly don't deserve citizenship.

I certainly don't give my respect away easily, but despite the cheap shots I actually stand now despite it being a suburban rugby league game.

Maybe one day that respect will be returned. Given the track record of you Aussies I won't hold my breath

Sooky lala AuckMel.
Jeez. You carry a chip on your shoulders don't you?
I hve lost count at how many cheap shots I have copped from Kiwis in my travels to your gorgeous country.
It's all good mate. We're neighbours.
Yes, sheep jokes are purile, but so are Irish jokes and they don't complain.
Get over yourself.
Glad to see you can finally drag your arse off your seat to stand for a country's national anthem nowadays for all of a minute. That's mighty big of you.

That's pretty rich given your whinge over your anthem at a suburban rugby league game.

Nope. No reason to.

That really is sad to hear. Most Kiwis are usually genuine nice people who don't feel the need to make others the butt of their jokes or fire cheap shots at.

Imagine if you were subjected to that day after day. You might actually have something to complain about.

Yes, yes we are. Which is why it's hard to understand meltiger's claim that I hate Aussies. I don't think I've ever potrayed that. Thanks for the support on that btw.

Well, I can't say I know any Irishmen so I have no idea how they feel or whether they complain. If they did I'd respect their right to complain about it. Maybe you should too.

Thanks. I'm not such a bad sheep ****er.
