These are the record-holders to the best of my knowledge.
Other Grand Final players:
Code:54 Noel Lovell Co 1981 53 Ashley McIntosh WC 1991 49 Spiro Malakellis Ge 1989 48 Michael Cooke Ha 1975 48 Glen Jakovich WC 1991
I'm pretty sure Mal Brown played a game in the WAFL wearing #100.
There was some point to it, but like most of Mal's thoughts, only important in his own mind.
5. What's the highest number worn at every club
(I've only looked at players with 20 or less games from 1986-now, and a handful of lower number games from around 1980 as per the AFL Tables site. Corrections welcome)

Essendon - #56 (Brendan Moore, 1987)
In the AFL is the players value/ability ranked on jumper number? not sure if this is a bad question or not but i most leagues that doesn't happen
I thought so. I think its more so personal preferenceIt's generally something of a status symbol to have a low number, yeah, but often players who could take a lower number if they wanted choose to keep their high number because it's part of their identity.
- Stuart DEW (17 Port 2004, 32 Haw 2008)
- Peter BURGOYNE (7 Port 2004, 9 Haw 2013-14)
Malcolm Brown playing for Claremont as captain / coachresurrection, however:
pretty sure i saw a WAFL game in the 80s when someone was wearing number 100 - any record of this?
Could have sworn he started 1988 in #31, but looking at the GF footage he's wearing #6 - my badPretty sure Tony Hall only ever wore 6 at Hawthorn. 31 in 1988 was Steve Lawrence.
I do have a very hazy recollection that he might have worn a higher number in the opening pre-season comp game that year, but switched to 6 well before the proper season started. Unfortunately the footy records for that pre-season aren't online.

PREMIERS SAME CLUB
- Chris LANGFORD (28 Haw 1986, 24 1988-89, 1991)
- Andrew COLLINS (40 Haw 1988, 4 1989, 1991)
- Adam SIMPSON (37 North 1996, 7 1999)
- Chris MEW (46 Haw 1983, 2 1986, 1988-89, 1991)
- Mark HARVEY (38 Ess 1984-85, 1 1993 [LOSS 1990])
Nah, it was definitely wasn't Tony Symonds. They played Hall off a half back flank in his first appearance for Hawthorn in the opening pre-season game of 1988. I reckon he might have worn a higher number for that one game. It's irrelevant to the discussion anyway, he wore 6 in every premiership match that year. You may be confusing Tony Hall with Tony Symonds, who wore # 32 in 1987.
Leigh Matthews wore #32 in the 1971 GF win, and #3 of course on 76, 78 and 83.
