PLAYER INJURY ESTIMATED RETURN Connor Budarick Knee 1-2 weeks Sean Lemmens Hamstring 1 week Touk Miller Knee TBC Lachie Weller Knee 1 week Updated: June 6, 2023 Early prognosis
The Suns should have plenty of reinforcements when they return from the mid-season bye, with Weller and Lemmens both expected to be available. After almost 12 months on the sidelines, Budarick is also training well and should be close to a return. – Michael Whiting
Nearly a clean bill of health. How good is that
But the 27-year-old backline weapon isn’t expected to be seen again at the top level until Gold Coast’s Round 16 clash with Collingwood at home.
“Lachie will be another two weeks,” Suns football manager Wayne Campbell said.
“His knee took a little longer to settle than we first thought. He has been running a little but he has been getting some swelling around the area. We have been able to get on top of it now.”
Campbell confirmed Weller has had to have fluid drained from the knee on multiple occasions.
The Suns defence could soon be further bolstered around the same time with Sean Lemmensexpected to be back from a hamstring injury in Round 16 while Connor BudarickPLAYERCARDSTART23Sean Lemmens

“Connor has been in our main football program for a fair while now so he just has to tick off a final couple of things to do with his strength,” Campbell said.
Meanwhile Suns co-captain Touk Miller is still expected to make his return from a knee injury with around four rounds left.

Lachie Weller | Knee | 1 week |
Updated: June 13, 2023 |
It's been a failed recruitment so far.Not sure why Anderson would not be in that report? He was gone by quarter time in last week's ressies with ice on his hamstring.
I'd be very surprised if they got him back too early, despite the way it looks.Hopefully not paying the price for returning Weller too quickly because of how bad the backline was
People like to speculate without knowing medical details and how injury happened. Weller was flying the first 5 games. Injuries happen.I'd be very surprised if they got him back too early, despite the way it looks.
They've been super conservative with most injuries coming back to play in recent times.
Good depth player to have. He was probably never best 22 but is as hard as a cat's head. It's been a failed recruitment so far.
Never really expected him to feature in the 1's, but has had a late start to the year and then done 2 hamstrings this year?
What did he sign on for?1 or 2 years? It's been a failed recruitment so far.

hammy issueWhat is the latest with Connor Budarick? Played one VFL game a few weeks ago and crickets since.
Assuming he had a traditional ACL reconstruction, not the most suprising news. At least it is not the knee. Cheers for the updatehammy issue
The Gold Coast SUNS can confirm Lachie Weller will be sidelined for the remainder of the 2023 Toyota AFL Premiership season after injuring his ACL.
Speaking to the Qscan Injury Update, GC SUNS General Manager of Football Performance Wayne Campbell confirmed that Weller would undergo a second knee reconstruction.
“Lachie had an incident with his knee in the late stages of the Round 17 match against Port Adelaide,” Campbell said.
“After subsequent scans and consultations, the decision has been made for Lachie to undergo a second knee reconstruction,” Campbell said.
“It’s bitterly disappointing news for Lachie and it’s important now that, as a club, we provide him all the support he needs.”
Weller has played in nine matches this season since returning from an ACL injury suffered partway through 2022.
The club will work with Weller to determine his recovery timeline post-surgery.
