why does there need to be only one surviving. I know many many people who play both.

Just gut feel ... Either herald sun gets big enough to leverage/just outright pay enough for live data OR i'd suspect that next contract with Champion Data will be with new conditions eg no qtr time scores either or no scores released until end of the round etc

The league games dont start till round 3. Scores up until then just count towards your overall points tally.

You clearly aren't a SuperCoach "guru".
Simply in the League tab, just click on "rank by total points".
And that will sort all the 16 teams in order of what they scored in round one.

As for many SuperCoach-obsessed people like me, who spend the usual 5-6 hours on the site a day, it absolutely smashes DreamTeam. The scoring system is so much better rewarding players for efficiency rather than just possesions. I hope they can get GameDay Live back working and showing the live SC scores. Grr it's frustrating when you're watching the games and you have no idea how they're scoring.

Please HeraldSun and Champion Data save us! haha.

Champion Data are the ones who have decided not to allow live scoring - I'm sure the HUN would update live if they could.

Wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong!!! I think if you rang the AFL you would find that they have ordered AFL.COM.AU not to have supercoach scores as they want people to play the afl endorsed DREAM TEAM instead of Supercoach.

It doesn't take a genius to work out what is happening ... AFL and Champion Data are trying to take away some of the appeal of supercoach so people will move back to the AFL's official dreamteam comp

Herald Sun are going the other way and trying to make Supercoach as accessible to everyone as possible by giving all of the guides and the promotion ... it wont affect the serious players but will build up enough of a base (someone said 275,000 teams) to give some leverage over AFL/Champion Data with things like live scores

Eventually there will probably be only 1 comp surviving !

just a guess - they currently have an exclusive contract with the AFL to supply all stats/data and that is the majority of their business ... I'm not sure what the relationship between the 2 are but you'd think that it'd be a fair bet that AFL is pulling all the strings

Completely agree.

Always thought supercoach was better than dream team as the scores more accurately reflected performance.

But with the Herald Sun telling everyone who to pick and taking the research out of it and no live scores i'm going to be getting on dream team next year.

You might think that has an effect- but it's absolute rot, we're in a bubble here and we just assume 'everyone is being given a leg up on us.'

From a communications perspective it takes way more saturation than a one off Sheedy list and a couple of pointers to have any impact.

I've just gone through my private league and again it's down to me and another guy for the win (A third guy who is always competitive just moved house- bigpond has been screwing his reconnection around so his team is behind the 8 ball).

As for the other 13 (and I expect it's mirrored across the comp) they're all still throwing darts at a board. Unless they invest the time to understand the mechanics of the game better, it will stay that way.

Funny you should mention that.

I looked at my private league today that my mates and brothers and their mates are in and oh the horror, there are at least 8 teams that majorly suck with players you have never heard of before, etc.

One guy has Hodge in his backline and the other 6 players didn't play! (one was H.Shaw but the rest were spuds)

Another guy had 5 forwards playing and the last 4 (including bench) were never a chance of playing.

I just wonder what goes through their heads! Ha! Ha!

I played Supercoach last year and there was never any live scores on the site.

The scores were on the Fanfooty site quickly after a game finished though..

for the record I think Supercoach is better than Dreamteam this year I cant believe supercoach has 286,000 ppl playing it thats alot for this time of the year.

I was talking about gameday live on AFL.com, they were on there last year.

Oh ok yeh they were last year I'm guessing the AFL chucked a hissy fit about it and now they can't do it there is always Fanfooty. they have the scores up about 20 minutes after the game so all is not lost.

Last year she saw how obsessed I was about it and how much time I spent doing it (and probably neglecting other stuff that I should have been doing) and so she probably just wanted to get involved so she could understand it a bit better.

She was umming and ahhing as to whether or not to put in a team and I encouraged her to do it. Little did I know how competitive she would be once she started putting her team together.

The first thing she did on Monday morning when she woke up was open up her laptop to check her score!!!

I don't think that will work for mine. Her eyes tend to glaze over at the mere mention of some important key words - football, playstation, sex, beer. I doubt I'll get past the first sentence before she's humming a tune in her head.....
