Big rumour.

Sydney has offered their second round pick for Peter Everitt
Hawthorn are offering picks 24, 33 and Tim Boyle to Carlton for Thornton.

More to come.

Looking forward to testing your credibility on this one.

Hawthorn paying way, way over the odds for an average-good defender if true.

thornton isnt even worth pick 33. hes being so overrated this week. its only because hes the only semi decent key defender in a woeful back line making him look better. if thornton went for 24,33, and boyle, then glass is worth pick 1.

one second rounder would be euff.
24 and Boyler.
Thats fair.
I think thats a good trade for everyone.

Not really. Tim Boyle will be delisted anyway.

Two 2nd round picks are reasonable..

But whered you get this from Hawkk?

In fairness it's not my rumour, someone else posted it on another forum, would be an interesting trade if true.

I don't rate Boyle at all, to me trading away will just open up more room on our list to promote a rookie onto our senior list - probably Gilham.

A poster on a rival forum - he sourced Newslimited, it sounds very sketchy but worthy of a thread IMO.

Will be an interesting trade if true, I've always been of the thought that Carlton WILL accept 2 2nd round picks, I'm guessing Boyle is the sweetner.

Do players that get traded still HAVE to got a 1 year contract? or could carlton possibly then choose to delist him before the deadline? I dont really think Boyle is AFL standard, however Carton aren't exactly AFL standard either

Geez - Carlton would have to be off-loading a few players to fit in the swag of draft picks they'll have if this is accurate.
Conversely, it's exactly what Hawthorn need to do (off-load draft picks).

Just quietly 2 spoons in a row would indicate theres a few scraps for the tip.

Well, if Thornton and Russell leave, that's automatically two positions that need to be filled. I would suggest they have that much rubbish on their list that they could afford to have 5 picks in the top 33. And if they get pick 23 for Russell, that gives them picks 1, 17, 19, 23, 24 and 33. Now, for the loss of Thornton and Russell, that doesn't seem too bad.

No doubt, but I wouldn't be taking Timmy Boyle - the 2x 2nd rounders seems OK (as DU stated, with the prospect of a 2nd rounder for Russell, that'd give you 6 picks under 33 - more than enough to start the re-building properly).

Carlton have to trade Thornton to Hawthorn and Hawthorn have to trade pick 24 and hopefully pick 33 from Sydney, then we might come close to a deal. Hawthorn aren't prepared to cut ties with anyone in their best 30 it seems. Clinton Young who was of interest to the Blues has been granted a new two year deal with the club.

Why are you offering him $1M over 3 years if you don't rate him?

I agree and there is talk of offering him more than that in the 1st year to try and take all teams before hawthorn out of the equation in the PSD!... No matter what people say, Hawthorn rate the guy highly and I dont think carlton are going to budge that easily.

IMO Pick 6 in exchange for Thornton & pick 19...

OR

2 high second rounders (both below 30)
