THE DRAFT IS HERE!

The Sweet CA Inaugural Draft will commence on Monday 25th November, from 8AM AEDT.

All registered players not tied to one of the six Season 01 teams are automatically registered for the draft.

The Draft incorporates:

  • Provisional Rounds - Allowing teams with less than 6 'foundation players' to utilise compensation picks to ensure all teams have 6 players before proceeding to the main draft. Teams with six players already listed are excluded from the Provisional Rounds
  • Wicketkeeper Round - To ensure all squads have one wicketkeeper. Teams with a wicketkeeper as a 'foundation player' are excluded from additional selections.
  • Sweet CA Inaugural Draft - The full/main draft will commence, with the Draft Order to be announced prior to Monday 25th November.
At the conclusion of the draft, late player signing/drafting throughout Season 01 and beyond mirrors the Sweet FA process.

Excellent approach.

Question, is there a number of seasons a draftee is tied to a club? For example if someone's picked in the first round they must play at least 2 seasons?

Or is it just one and done?

Until the end of time. Or they are delisted/traded etc.

Oh right so it's not like SFA where you can swap willy nilly at the end of season?
No, no - it mirrors the Sweet FA. Players can leave / be delisted if they wish to be a 'free agent' similar to the Sweet FA.

Excellent approach.

Don't even think about it

Whilst it would be fun to have an IPLesq signing and rentention policy for this. You know it’s not feasible.

Fk that, gonna create a rebel league. Sweet Premier League. No Pakistanis

I just thought if a draft was going to be a thing then maybe retention policy could go alongside it.

Ensure clubs get return on their investment so to speak.

The draft is to ensure initial equitable distribution of players, and a bit of a grand opening to the SCA.

After that, it’s up to the clubs themselves how and if they want to retain players between seasons. You’re more than welcome to bully and enforce a policy at DE, and I’m sure SCA officials are more than happy to turn a blind eye to that
