Except that they seem to be trying to turn Vez into a defender.

It bemuses me because he looks to have the same defensive intuitions as Kennelly (ie none) and because we are already loaded with attacking defenders and because his kicking ability is surely better used delivering the ball onto Braddles', Goodsey's and Jesse's chests than hoofing it upfield to midfield contests and because he won't convert many 50m shots at goal if he's stuck down back and because...because...
I think its just part of the learning process, Liz.

Im in favour of Rohan. We know he can run at the ball but he also showed in the NAB cup he can pull a tackle, he's not a one way player and with that speed he can put forward pressure on their backs. Despite my reaction to his kicking on the video he apparently scored first on turn/kick target so the goals may be in his reach too. I doubt he's got the fitness to run through the midfield at this level yet but to let him loose in a forward pocket role may be the go.

Bevan's hard enough without the ball and may crunch a few guys but getting deciding what to do with it once his hands are on the pill is his problem. If he gets the call up he better well do something with it as we could be looking at a Paul Bevan last chance.

Last chance is a little harsh. I reckon both Bevan and Richards are very unlucky to find themselves playing in the reserves at the moment. If our injury list was just 2-3 players longer both would be playing senior footy.

Mal I was happy with what i saw from Bevo in the NAB cup. But he has after finding his spot under pressure last year had his role with the team redefined and he is competing with the younger generation for it.

He will be expected to perform when he returns to the senior side and if he gets dropped again I think it will spell trouble. He will though be given a chance to show his wares and hopefully he has the complete product to spruke, we know it's hard enough but now it's time for the polish as well.

Richards I agree has found himself more structured out of the team than on performance and is very unlucky not to be playing atm.

Bevan will play..
if mcglyn is out for 4 weeks, look who we play

west coast
BRISBANE
GEELONG
WEST BULLDOGS

maybe not the best idea bringing in Rohan for those teams...
they will want a more hard bodied player (Bevan) get some form next week and then ready for the big 3 games after that unless they think bevan is too slow. he did well nab cup
so Bevan it is..

We will get more injuries, so Rohan will get his chance. Mattner, Malceski and Moore look like they have struggled over the past two weeks at times with niggles.

It would be funny if Rohan debuted in Geelong though.

Fair enough, our board really has heated up the last few days, hasn't it?

Who'd have thought it would coincide with us playing North? Shock!

As much as I would love to see Rohan play in place of McGlynn, we need to replace McGlynn's abilty to take up a tagging role as a forward player and a player who adds defensive pressure in our forward line considering who we are playing over the next Month. Sure Rohan has great pace and would provide another X-Factor up forward, but in the role he'll be used in (on and off the bench) he'll be kind of wasted as we bring him up to pace with AFL football. Bevan is just a slower version of McGlynn and a player who can tag.

What will be interesting however is the information about Veszpremi playing in defense for the Reserves and whether or not, he would be capable of replacing McGlynn up forward and if the need arises pick up a tagging role. If that is possible then he might just be able to push Bevan for a spot in the team. But from what reports I've read, you would think Bevan would be the most likely replacement. Plus I wouldn't rule out Nick Smith returning either, but that would be a longer shot considering he is a defender but if Bevan can be turned into a small forward for defensive pressure/tagging reason, I can't see why Smith can't as well and he has more pace on him compared to Bevan.

Interesting way to look at this, but I'm still going with Bevan to replace McGlynn.

Suggests he could miss up to 6 weeks.

Big blow but he needs to rest and get this right and giving him the time off i think will be welcome to Craig as he has just been a bit off this season. Still beating players as he can do in his sleep but he has jsut been a bit slow.

Hope his recovery goes as swiftly as humanly possible and we have on of our captains back out there.
