There is a happy middle ground.

Wish them the best for their off-field stuff. Membership, bottom line etc. Doesn't hurt us for them to be viable, we're not chasing the same dollar. Back them up when anyone talks of relocation - ditto the Bulldogs. Very few of their supporters backed us in our hour of need, but we're better than that & understand the term "relocation" more than most.

At the same time, rejoice in their absolute failure on-field. 1 flag, a free-kick-staging skipper, ugliest team in the comp etc.

I would like to see them financially viable & winning wooden spoons for the next 50 years, rather than folding or relocating.

One did and she(?) was fantastic. Used to post on here a lot and helped keep our spirits up when things were pretty bad. Anyone remember the poster?

And Finey was great too.

Everyone blames one thing or another, what if it was just one piss ant recruit that started the downward spiral.

I'll take note of the actual OP and show sympathy for St Kilda, because it can, and will happen to any other club in the AFL.

Yes i remember her. Her partner was a North man so she had a soft spot for us. Can't remember her username though. Started with w i think

I would stop supporting our club if it ever attempted to bring out anything like this.

Can you imagine the reaction if someone suggested doing something like this to Jack, Ben10 and Nicky Dal? Well, maybe not Nicky Dal.

actually
I do feel for their supporters a bit
constantly having to deal with this club's off field indiscretions would be hard to take after so many decades - the loyalty of fans has not really been repaid by the club.

Yes I remember her too. Her username started with a w and I think it had "west" or something similar in it. Just did a search but couldn't find her. Strange how people just drop off posting.

I too do not wish them ill-will. All clubs have their share of absolute idiot supporters and I don't think you can use this as a motivation to wish the worst on any club. I certainly don't want their current off-field problems to push them into a re-location/merger sort of situation because no club/supporters deserve this.

Well maybe the *donialists do, but even they, believe it or not, have some decent people supporting their club. Just a bit thin on the ground here on Bigfooty.

The flogs:non flogs ratio is as high among St Kilda fans as it is at *tullamarine. And totally disproportionate to their levels of "success". At least the *scum have a premiership *record to stand behind.
I feel sorry for some of them, but the majority can you-know-what my you-know-where.

You're right with the ''west'' reference I reckon, Horace.

She was great, and a real stalwart against relocation back in 2007. Now she's moved on it's easier to say they can stew in it. Players there have chucked out two of our legends as coaches and now Watters too - the place reverts so quickly to its natural state of being a shambles. Hope so much they go for Harvey as coach, it would be bad for them and give Collingwood a headache as a bonus. Saints and Richmond attract the fixie-riding crowd, too cool to act like they care about winning anything and so sad when their hopes are occasionally raised and inevitably dashed. Ha. Couldn't agree more with the sentiment that I want St Kilda to remain both viable and pathetically useless (same with Melbourne).

we57st?

I have no problem having a go at * if they are basically drug cheats and claim they have done nothing wrong and that they are being hard done by - then they deserve a broadside.

But when a perennial "Also Ran" club who has an aging list after wasting opportunities for glory in the past, has their coach leave them in the lurch and after getting a rookie coach they either have poor seasons or occasionally make up the numbers in the 8 while every one complains that they only ever win because their aging stars pull them across the line and they don't have any real youth coming through and their board is constantly in crisis.

Sounds a bloody lot like North Melbourne during the mid 2000's except that we at least could look back at 2 recent premiership victories.

I have no problem enjoying our 68 point wins now because even though they are hurting, they will pick themselves up off the mat and start swinging. But I am not going to bask in their pain, because 10 odd years ago it was ours.

Yep. She was a strong supporter of us in our fight from an opposition POV.

From memory she said she was giving this board a wide berth after seeing comments directed at Milne and Reiwoldt a year or two ago, with some of our posters who didn't know her history of support taking aim at her as well.

That sounds fair enough on her part. I seem to remember her having some fund raising ideas in 2007 but my memory may be wrong on that.
