Anyone able to put together a wrap on any of the games from the weekend? Hasn't been much of it on here lately. Any names really step up in the absence of the Championships players?

Just looking at the scores the Jets must have showed a lot of character in the last quarter and keep finals chances alive, for Murray Aalbers kicking four goals in his TAC Cup debut.

Must have been blowing a gale down at Shepley Oval but Dandenong went scoreless for a quarter yet still managed to smash Oakleigh. It was only the Rays second win of the year.

Northern dropped their fourth game in a row, after winning their first seven games. Does it show the dependence on their Metro players to the teams success and perhaps a lack of depth on their list?

Anyway the results:

Yeh mate Cartelli from the western Jets, 3 goals in first qrt really showing improvement will be a very very good player next year...
Also Robert Trajovski is the best full back in the comp rarely beaten

yeah Travojski is an absoulute gun i agree and i heard Cartelli kept the jets in it in that first quarter, but kicked very poorly after that.
Footyman, Aalbers was brilliant early but was shutdown afterwards, but considering it was his debut, he looks like a prospect.
Fantastic win by the Jets, reli character building stuff and they were estatic afterwards, while Murray were just devasted, the difference between them, as it wuld be, was extraordinary. The usual suspects for the Jets turned it on when needed, but they were very poor before half time.
Dandenongs win over Oakleigh came as a massive surprise to me, but well done to them.

Aalbers & Walker looked the exciting types for Murray. Great character by the Jets - it was mainly a mosquito fleet that got them home - Cartelli (172 cm) early then Lockwood (173 cm) racked them up in the last quarter.

The Murry V Western game was insane, it was good to see the jets get over the line everyone looked estatic this showed great promise for the club, they have a few tough games coming up but i reckon they have a good chance at cracking the eight? any thoughts?

well i've always thought they've been a pretty decent side, i'm not saying they'll do nething in the finals but i reckon they are good enough to make it. They got a raw deal playing two of the best sides in it in the first two weeks then just losing to calder after staging anotehr amazing last quarter fight back. Those 3 losses would sapped the confidence big time. One game out now, and they'll need to play alot better than they did in the first 3 quarters on satday if they wanna win against any of the top teams. Are very capable of finishing top 8

Watched the game between Calder and Geelong. Both sides weakened Calder probably more so. Out carnival players plus polkinghorne, maric, duyndam, mcgough, arrowsmith, P Smith and Jake Williams from their best side. The real impressive player in terms of draftability for this year is Dean Putt. He is approx 200cm moves really well and amazing below knees. He still has A LOT to learn but I think he will be snapped up as a bottom aged tall. Considine at ff was also impressive especially since he is bottom aged born in Dec. Im not sure what position he would play at the next level as he looks to be approx 185 and his strength is in the air. Geelong were extremely even and way too strong around the ground but im not sure how many of their side from sunday are equipped to play at the next level. im sure others will dispute my thoughts on that judgement though.:thumbsu:

i watched the gippsland power game on the weekend and thought michaelides looked real flashy in the last quarter but a bit quiet the rest of the game... colud be one to watch in the future, quick flashy with good skills!!! if he puts his head over the ball more often will be a great player!!

the murray vs jets game was great. the first quarter was good, the middle two wernt as great, and the last was amazing, murray just stopped. i couldnt believe my eyes. murray didnt capitalise on their opportunities in front of goal. gg though.
