So the Pies have walked away from $500k sponsorship with the TAC. Any chance of us picking up some of that booty? Can't recall the last time we had a player busted for DD?

My thoughts exactly- we could be the best behaved side in the league. Go get it Cam!! For better or worse even the Aussie cricket team make us look like angels!;)

This is perfect for the dogs, the community club. Jump on it Cam. I guess it will be him and the other 13 eligible clubs, Wallets mob might have a tough time picking them up again. small graces;)

We already have a similar sponsorship program with Worksafe Victoria, so I would think having a sponsorship deal with both Worksafe Victoria and TAC would be unlikely.

i don't see why not?,

you can never have enough sponsors, and not sure how they would conflict,
one is worksafe the other is about transport, apart from both being government departments, they are completely separate entities, and the product is totally different.

I agree I see no conflict there.
I see benefit for the TAC, we have a number of young player (20-25 year olds) that are mature and well spoken. This is the perfect age group and they are blokes that can be held as responsible role models. Unlike some of the other idiots running around.

In all honesty we would just have to be about the best behaved football team of field. I mean i honestly cant remember the last time one of our players stepped out of line !

it's been a while,

not really since 80's i guess.

unless you count the alleged assault incident that seemed to get
thrown out pretty quick.

Dont take this the wrong way but you would be educating young men and women of the Western Suburb not to Drink and Drive

Thats all good I think

Didn't we have a guy try to belt a security guard in a Brisbane KFC?

Whatever happened to him?

I think i might know what your talking about lol.

Wasnt that the incident between Nathan Brown when he was playing for us it happened at a ATM in KFC :D

It want anything major though. He is now gone so its all good :thumbsu:

Talk of a TAC sponsorship takes me back to the late 80's with our team posters on my wall with the .05 sponsorship.

You remember the .05 TV ad the team did? I vaguely remember a stiff looking Beazley saying "No".

Worksafe and the TAC share an office and are (supposedly) implementing a shared services style management model...
The TAC has two offices actually and will not share one with Worksafe or even be within 50kms of Worksafe soon.

The TAC is setting up shop on Geelong's waterfront and moving its headquarters and the vast majority of its operations there. They are currently transitioning staff from Melbourne to Geelong via a transition office in Geelong while their new headquarters is being built.

In December 2008 at latest the TAC will be fully in Geelong and this will most likely occur mid year 2008. I wouldn't be surprised if this helps a little bit with their sponsorship choice especially considering their exposure and form coming into 2008.

Worth a try though.

Our players are never caught doing irresponsible things. They are also behaving like excellent role models in the off season. More than any club for that matter. Tom Williams and Daniel Cross, two young men, showed bravery and social responsibility. Are these not the same values that the TAC hope to promote?

We are clearly the club deserving of any TAC sponsorship. I can think of one indiscretion or another in pretty much every AFL club. Not ours, only good news comes out of our playing group.

Hopefully Steve Johnson will scare the TAC off Geelong:)

I dont know

When you get "rookies" determining you sponsorship future it look's a bit scary.

Plus I think the government and the TAC may be reconsidering how they invest their money in future and it may not be in AFL football.

Having said that, Collingwood & Eddie report they were close to closing a new deal, which would suggest to me that they would want to keep sposoring an AFL team for exposure. Have to agree that we seem to be the best fit as far as responsiblity, morals, community and target/key demographic is concerned.

I have a keyring my brother found in his room ages ago that has a really old Bulldogs logo on it, and on the back has a 'If you drink, then drive, you're a bloody idiot' thing on the back.

I wouldn't be opposed to a huge new sponsorship deal obviously, but teams seem to find themselves in trouble with it, not that I believe it that sort of thing anyway though.
