Taking Names (Discriminatorily, Too!) - Regional Leagues 2nd Mod Candidate Survivor!

Remove this Banner Ad

The time has come, the walrus said, to speak of many things.

I've been pressing 'the league' for a second mod for the Regional Leagues board. Two reasons for this :

a) The site as a whole is now so big that in general we're pushing to up the number of facilitators, and
b) 50+ percent of convo on the Regional board is SANFL-related, and I'm so far out of that loop they'll have to close the ride and issue a press release.

So roll up, roll up, nominate suitable candidates for a second mod of the Regional Leagues board!

Special note : There will be a blatent leaning towards SANFL (or at least SA footy) fans, due to the abovementioned point b.

Now, here's what I plan to do.

1. I'll take all nominations,
2. I'll pull out a primary set (most popular/appropriate by my reckoning),
3. I'll take them to the rest of the admin for a "police check",
4. Then I'll return here in poll format with the remainder.

(I haven't told the brass of this intended process yet, all they know is I'm off sussing out ideas for a 2nd mod)

Remember, SANFL or SA folks are the intented candidate base.

Hop to it, post your nominations, secondings and other related thoughts in this thread. Usual posting guidelines apply. Yes, you can nominate yourself if you like. Also, anyone not wanting to nominate publicly can PM me.

Cheers, and Season's Greetings!

I'll put my name in the hat. My qualities?

- big on sports history
- keen to promote grassroots competitions because I recognise their importance
- sympathetic and sincere
- objective
- I've moderated at other forums before

Disadvantages:
- well, any of you who knows me will be aware that Australian Rules isn't my first sport even if I love the game as much as anyone.
- can get worked up on certain issues, even if many will agree with my sentiments

:( What a tragedy us VFL fans don't meet the selection criteria

If you can find a South Aussie who has a brain Mobbs they would make a good moderator. Not an easy task though.

Wedgie Wedgie Wedgie Wedgie!!!!!

Take your seat with the immortals my son!

As for nominating me, no thanks. I've got enough troubles trying to find free time to write any stories for the myriad of football websites I contribute to.

PS: Mobb - I still want to write something about net football historians such as yourself. Will be in touch in the new year - sometime.

There seems to be some branch stacking going on here..

I vote Macca or McAlmanac. The latter seems less biased than any others mentioned and already runs a general SANFL site.

Wedgie..

The reasons..

Informed, SANFL and local football passionate, well connected within the scene, knowledgable, fair minded and very well versed in his abilities with computers and forums..

and mostly...Very fair minded when dealing with Port Adelaide Supporters, Wedgie is respectful, tolerant, mature and friendly , he has no agendas or ulterior motives, nor does he lower himself to sarcasm or personal abuse..

My vote for sure.

regards
PA1870

Despite the kind words of Docker Brat (cheque's in the mail), I too endorse Wedgie - for all the reasons stated by PA1870.

I agree. The 2 you mention are the 2 who I believe have not baited people in the past and also will not be biased against anyone especially when encountering criticism of their teams. They also are mature enough to not hold grudges against those who they have had heated debate with in the past. This is a serious decision I feel. We don't want posts deleted or modified just because the moderator dislikes that person. Macca or McAlmanac for me.

Gee.....why couldn't the regional board have been allowed to vote in the last US elections. We're all so thoughtful about our vote!
Just give it to the man with the popular vote.

PS: and where the frig did all these Rooster supporters come from?

No. It should not be a popularity contest. It should be the best person for the job. Someone who will not delete posts and alter posts from people they have abused in the past. Macca to me is the type who does not start any incidents and will only give someone a blast if they started it. eg. eddie eagle. He also doesn't have any blatant hatred for any one team and/or supporters which is very important.

Exactly. McAlmanac has never started anything, Macca has settled down lately. History shows that the best leaders are ones selected based on their performance, not ones who put their hands up going "me! me! me!, pick me!" and getting their mates in to help get them over the line. Look at Dubya. I vote Mcalmanac, like Mobben, he barracks for a club that was swallowed up by another, hardly likely to be biased. Wedgie has proven to be a dummy spitter.

Tried to stay out of it BUT feel free all you people out there to see how many posts Angry and Crowaholic have made on the Regional Board.

Click on the "search" button of their posts.

BUT according to Angry Im a dummy spitter, interesting point that as he's never replied to any of my posts to publish the fact.

PS I think there's no better endorsement than the regaular contributors of this forum giving me the "yay" (and I thank you all) whilst 2 people who between them have made 4 posts in the regional board (3 in this topic) disagree!:)

Happy NYE all!:)
