Bearing in mind when we play Fremantle, would u assume that clement is going to take Pavlich or Tarrant...? Just out of curiosity... or would u got for a presti on pavlich or even lonie if need be..? Thoughts....

Well now that he's on the other side we can say this:

Doesn't matter who plays on him, let him play his game of running up to the wing on a 50m lead, marking it and turning it over....OR
If he plays deep and takes a couple of grabs close to goal, just need to make sure someone stands the mark cos he'll miss the goal anyway.

Was that harsh?

Maxwell or Lonie > Farmer
Presti > Tarrant
Clement > Pavlich

Farmer is a good mark for his size so we need taller players on him.

The Full Back should always take the Full Forward.

Clement has height and speed. Should be a great matchup.

No, it's idiotic.

We KNOW Tarrant can be a matchwinner. Suggesting not worrying about him is silly. We shouldn't be afraid, but we should exercise some caution.

IDIOTIC?

I thought is was a fairly accurate call. That's been his caper for the past 3yrs...

I think the opperative word here is CAN be a matchwinner. He hasn't been a MATCHWINNER since 2003. Yeah sure he can kick a few cheap goals like he did in the elimination final but he hasn't stood up and won a match off his own boot for a long while.

Obviously he'll take our No. 2 defender but he'll just be a decoy for Pav. Pavlich will now play deeper while Tarrant pushes up to the wing...

No disrespect intended, but Tarrant was always overated in the way that a lot of Collingwood players are. You've got great control in the media, you've got the interest of your many fans and the even more who hate you, so anything in black and white gets written up well ahead of schedule. I know you won't agree with me, but Dale Thomas is a shining example - the kid can play, and will be good - but you'd think he was already winning games off his own boot (all while recording a chart topping album, painting a mural on the roof of St Patrick's and curing Kylie with a laying on of hands).

Tarrant has been under two goals a game for his career, and again I know many will argue against me, but he has been posted at full forward for most of those games. Not good.

You've done well to get rid of him, and considering his on and off field returns over the past couple of years, plus the anguish he gave you when he first started at Vic Park (and then left, and then started again), you've done even better to get what you did in return.

As for being a matchwinner, I reckon I could argue that Greg Tivendale has been a match winner on occassion for the Tigers.

Or maybe not. How about Greg Stafford? No? But you get my point, I'm sure.

Turning it over?

Got any stats to back that up? He’s a crappy kick for goal I always thought because he is a mental basket case but his field kicking is pretty good. It’s the pressure and fear that get to him in front of goal.

FWIW if Tarrant gets himself mentally and physically right he will smash us. We don’t have anyone that can go with him. He will have a sensational season if he gets his legs and his brain working. Whether that would have ever happened had he stayed is another matter entirely.

Agreed. If tarrant gets his mind and legs right,we will miss out on tarrant's best year.I say year because after perservering with him at collingwood year in year out he really only shone a little in 2003.He will definately play well for freo next year bar any injury, but then a leopoard doesn't change his spots.Once all the supporters and admin staff think that his **** doesn't stink, close fiend solly and tazz will hit those Perth nitespots with a vengance and it will be all over rover.Mark my words when this happens. The only way Tarrant will knuckle down and fufill his lost ambition is if he settled down (marriage) Why? Because when you get married you can not think of just yourself. You can't just dump the misses and the family and go out with mates and just keep pissing up.Well you can but your marriage won't last.So he needs RESPONSIBILTY to help change his ways.He doesn't have that. Why do you think Fevola changed his way.He got married and had a kid.BIG RESPONSIBILTY.Tazz is single gets paid $500,000 a year.Life is easy why bust your arse that's why as daniher said he doesn't train as hard as some of the more elite players of the afl. Freo wont a premiership with Connelly. If harvey takes the mantle they will.Harvey has turned freo around behind the scenes, not Connelly.

That could be said about every player in the comp though. The fact is Tarrant spent 8yrs at Collingwood and couldn't get his mind or body to click together for longer than a couple of weeks at a time (2003 aside).

He's a fruit loop regardless of his ability. The game is played inbetween the ears before you touch a footy.

You are harsh on the second point and dead wrong on the first point. Tarrant has great footskills when it comes to pinpointing a teammate. Goal assists anyone?

Freo supporters will disagree, are you one of these Collingwood supporters that bag Malthouse as well?

Don't Worry....I think Freo have got the Wooden Spoon for the Free Kick count for; last year.....Or at least in the bottom 4 .... They Hate us.....
Especially against WC

Maybe Harvey can straighten them up in the Forward line.....that's his new position.......He will give them the MENTAL strength.......to not always have to rely on the Free Kick,

Tarrant'll fit in well then, he's never had to worry about relying on them.

I don’t disagree. I am not anti Tarrant trade. In fact I suggested on here a long time ago that we should look at trading the bloke that misses too many goals, can’t get fit and doesn’t have the brains or the attitude for AFL footy. The kick up the bum might make a big difference and we might see his considerable best but without it I doubt we would have got the best from him.

Trades aren’t about what the player does when he leaves they are about what the player would have done if he’d stayed.

Ay, Whats the bet that Tarrent will go to Freo and play awesome.
It wouldnt b the first time it has happened to us.
Wat about Heath Scotland, he went to carlton and has dominated.

Problem with that is Scotland really wasn't that bad at Collingwood to begin with, hasn't really had the same impact this year though.

But what if Tarrant stars? Doesn't mean much, could mean he never really wanted to stay at the club, it really didn't look like we were getting the best out of him anyway.

He'll do alright, he won't be a huge superstar though, unless he changes a lot.
