I’m not condoning his actions but I know enough to know that the woman involved wasn’t the saint she’s been portrayed to be in all this

Still no excuse what he did

Wow - you’re going to victim blame the young lady?? It people like you that a big reason DV is a huge issue in this country. Be better.

There is zero excuse for what he has done - zero.

Will be back in the AFL in season 2026.
And but one clubs fanbase will be up in arms.

Is a funny old world.

He has done wrong, but not bad enough to go jail.
I think he should be allowed to play afl in 2026 , but if no club wants to sign him then they don't have to.
North tried hard. Surely the first thing to do was get a new phone, delete his ex girlfriends number. He needed to be forced to work a real job.

I think he should be allowed to play afl in 2026 if not earlier , but if no club wants to sign him then they don't have to.

If the AFL are serious they will put a line through his name.

How does he lock arms during the minute silence for DV victims. Embarrassing and awkward.

And good luck selling it to the AFLW players.

Repeat offender, given multiple chances, no remorse, no improvement, AFL.supposedly cares about DV. Any club thinking of offering him any role should be ashamed.

I agree now. How thick must Tarryn be, what sort of a bad influence is that big bloke he hangs around with.
Maybe some sort of charity work abroad is his only hope, I mean that quite seriously.
He needs another couple of years maturity it seems.

I think the AFL has done well to not have the full investigation into what TT did out in the media…….it’s clearly a lot worse or more threatening than what’s been published. They don’t want the rest of the story to come out is what I’m tipping. I don’t know what happened, but clearly it was more than the media released. Whole thing was truly bizarre.

If it was that bad why not just ban him for life? Why a 18 match ban?

While not terrible some of his off season returns weren’t great either. Can’t imagine he will be in tip top shape if he did come back. Add to this the fact he never really hit his full potential in 4 seasons at North and it’s a massive risk even before you add the off field stuff.

Valid point one could suggest, just the same as IF he can become a model citizen and is cleared to resume his career by the AFL.
Which means the AFL have sanctioned his return to football.
A club will pick him up, now a fair few North fans will be up in arms, that though is purely around losing a gun player for nothing.

I firmly believe he will be back ,the Bombers offered him a contract, but that was silly and way to soon.

No one has the right to not allow TT redemption. What he has done is disgraceful, no one will argue that. Doesn't mean it's a life sentence.

Speak to anyone from his home town in Tassie and they will soon tell you indeed he is beyond redemption.

He has always been a campaigner is a campaigner and will always be a campaigner of a human.

I don't know him or care to know him, he may well be Satan returned to this earth. Of course over the years many a coach has said they'd play the devil himself if he was any good.
The key here is TT is very good, looking over the majority of AFL lists, I'd suggest TT is top ten in most of if not all of them.
We have Tassie coming in which will further dilute the available talent.
He would be signed as a FA and be on bottom dollar, not much of a risk when for example North used pick 1 in the rookie draft on Toby Pink who should be nowhere near any AFL list. Toby Pink, let that sink in.
He won't be returning to North, but I do find it a little amusing that so many are adamant he will never play again.

If he gets fit, appears to work on himself, plays decent at VFL level, and the AFL green lights it, he will have multiple offers. Clubs principles go out the window pretty quick when they have the chance to sign a highly talented player for peanuts. Case in point, the Saints meeting with him just after he was sacked. Despite since backing down, they didn't do that because they were concerned for his mental health. They wanted a leg up, if the chance came to sign him. The AFL would know this, so will set a high bar, if he is to get a greenlight.

I have mixed feelings on Thomas playing again. On one hand, I wouldn't want my club to sign him and think he's a piece of garbage. On the other, whilst his actions were abhorrent, I'm not a fan of this one size fits all cancel culture. Sets a dangerous precedent. Any punishment should be proportionate to the crime, and in most instances, people should be redeemable in the right circumstances. For those reasons I am against a life ban but think the bar on any return should be set extremely high.

I don’t think it’s this simple.

Everyone knows his talent. No doubt recruiters and list managers will hold a level of interest. He’s an attractive proposition for them as a free hit.

Back in the 70s or 80s he’d get another go without a second thought. But we’re a long way from those eras, we’re talking big business here with significant money and reputations involved.

Boards, sponsors, members. Everyone has a say and what they say matters.

I’d expect any interest held by those in talent ID to be shut down pretty quickly.

As for what he does between now and then, whenever then is, I’m not sure on field is of much consequence. What he does off the field is far more relevant.

Saints management team backed down immediately once fan backlash hit them.

Any fan base would react the same way.

I agree with that. Its going to make it very tough for him to get another chance even if he completely turns his life around. Not that Id put my money on that either. Im not sure if he really thinks hes done anything wrong.

Although the heat was at its highest when the saints made their approach. Not great timing on their part. Not that I think they had any immediate plans to sign him. Think they just wanted to plant a seed, to give them first option in the future.

25 disposals and 3 goals can melt the coldest of hearts, well apparently.
