Nah, only the second best. Graeme Wright is the best - and, like Gale, he’s also Tasmanian ;)

Seriously though, I agree - Gale is a huge get and the perfect choice for the new CEO.
Brian D Cook is far and away the best and most experienced CEO in the AFL.

He helped get premierships at two clubs and turned basket case Geelong into a financial power house and over saw 3 x premierships as well there to add the the two at in his time at WC!

And he also is seeing Carton improve massively both on and off the field since he became CEO there.

She said today she is open to a stadium once the team proves itself with sell out crowds, but she obviously doesn't understand that a stadium is going to be even more expensive 5 to 10 years down the track.
It’s a softening for sure. How would port Adelaide be if they needed to sell out footy park to prove they could fill a stadium?

even from my pig ignorant vantage point here on the mainland, theres a definite mood shift building in favour of the team ..... disjointed in parts perhaps but its definitely building

the afl are many things to many people - but they know how to get what they want

It's not just the cost of the stadium. The team itself needs to be able to generate revenue in an ongoing manner without being subsidised, and the only way that it can do that is through higher quality corporate facilities at a stadium. Tasmania FC can't sell thousand dollar ticket packages to corporate boxes, premium seating and stadium social facilities in an arena that doesn't have them.

In any case, I'm not exactly sure how the attendance at grounds will prove the engagement in the team above and beyond what we already know, such as the fact that the community events have been sold out in minutes.

Labor is basically just trying to walk both sides of the street on this issue. They must know the stadium is popular so don't want to be blanket against it....but they must also be wanting to suck up to the Greens and the anti-development Left.

So they've got the mishmash nothing of a policy that doesn't really say anything.

Politics in a nutshell. Probably why people dislike them

Are they legitimately trying to throw the election? Did Rebecca White bet millions on her own party losing? This should be investigated. She has upset the anti-stadium people and the pro-stadium with this lol. How does she even talk about the "right priorities" when she is now saying she would build a stadium. :laughv1: Not "after fixing the homeless issue" or "fixing the health issue" but if the team proves itself? This is like a really bad blunder I think. She was better off just saying "we will renegotiate" over and over but not giving any specific details until after the election.

Tassie doesn’t have that many corporates though
New pm will define ‘team to prove itself’ according to the polling they get
You gotta use the stadium to capture what corporates there actually is. Bellerive's corporate facilities don't exist.

I don't think it is sucking up to the Greens so much as being genuinely wedged on the issue

There is an intersect of Red - Green voters that get charged up on this issue. They genuinely think that Tasmania should be given a team based purely on moral obligation and insisting on a stadium is an outrage.

Don't get me wrong, they should have backed it in anyway and they have a made a rod for their own back by not doing so - hoisted on their own petard as they say

Is it? Veteran suicide is her big thing but that's probably because she was in the ADF herself as much as anything.
Every time I see the bogan uneducated Lambie on shows like on the ABCs 7.30 Report and Q & A last Monday night struggling to put a decent coherent sentence together I cringe and there is no way she could/would earn $300,000 in any other job with her lack of decent communication skills!

Their vote is stuck around 25% so I honestly think it's a bit of a Hail Mary to get Greens voters on side.

Then they would say "We will not be building a stadium". Greens voters will be angry she is talking about building a stadium.

This is pretty cool that they're doing a Melbourne event. It'll be super interesting to see how many people turn up.

Was thinking of going, but I'd like to know a few more details other than some corporate tie-in to the AFL patting themselves on the back a lifeless concrete cauldron.
