Scully2Folau What is Bugg's value? Would Shaw + 27 for Adams + Bugg be too heavily in our favour?
I would say yes to it being in your favour, simply because I don't think it'd be worth our while trading Bugg out for pick 27 (on the basis that we're looking at Adams for Shaw as a potential straight swap or close to it)

He had a bit of a down year compared to his first year but is contracted for two more years and most of us would have him in our best 22. I'd want more than #27 for him personally but I also don't think we should or will trade him for a draft pick.

On what basis or criteria do you rate Karnezis a second round pick?

He was 2nd round pick to begin with and the fact that you are interested in him kinda reaffirms that. But more than that if Brisbane have the exodus that's expected they aren't going to recoup the damage on the player like Longer who was taken at pick 8. So they may try and do it elsewhere.

If the Lions hold out for a 2nd round pick he will just end up being delisted.
To be honest I'm not a fan so I would rather use the pick elsewhere.

As good as Gaz & Franklin are the amount of cash they gobble up is not equivalent to their output.

Gablett is worth every cent, one of the best players of all time. Singlehandedly beat Collingwood this year and I'd imagine a few other teams as well.

Franklin is a black hole though, Sydney wasted their cash on a player who has the abillity but rarely reaches those heights regularly enough to justify his price and it'll be a matter of when, not if, when it backfires on them.

Respect your view but don't agree.

Karnezis may have been selected as a second rounder (pick 25 in the 2010 draft) but in 3 seasons of footy has produced only 21 games and 28 goals largely as a mid-sized forward.

On the back of 3 senior games for the entire 2013 season, his value does not warrant a second round pick when you put this up against the likes of Hampson (Carl) and Docherty (Bris) who played alot more senior football this season.

Brisbane are better positioned to drive harder deals for the likes of Yeo (WCE bound), Polec (Adelaide bound), etc. who have greater market currency.

At best a third round pick, possibly a fourth rounder for him.

I vote 4th for Karnezis.
3rd for White (maybe GWS 3rd)
2nd round used in draft for Garlett

IN: Adams, White, Karnezis, picks 10 & 11 plus Garlett
A good summer haul.

If (and its a big if)we are going to trade our 2nd round pick, surely it would be for Ricky Henderson. Using it for Karnezis would not even be an option i'd hope.

I think you might have to let go of this one.
A club taking the broom to it's list to improve culture & attitude is unlikely to take this kid.
Not that I'd be against it. I just don't see Bucks ticking this one off.

Unfortunate really as attitude aside, he's exactly what we need.

just for irrelavent reference,

2010 National Draft - Pick 25 - Patrick Karnezis (originally Coll 1st Round draft selection traded to Bris via GC)
Steaming hot bowls of rich, creamy justice.

I obviously see your point, however I think that Bucks wanted to clear the decks of those still affected by the departure of MM & not fully buying into the Bucks way.
Also, perhaps those players still living off past glories (2010) & reminding the new Collingwood youth of that......that is maybe the culture that Bucks wanted to change.
We have leading teams (good or bad?) & a professional Football department to keep kids on the straight & narrow. We have cut the head off, the new culture begins.
So maybe we are willing to take a chance on this young talent with a different club environment in 2014.
Or, I am a hopeless romantic, clutching at straws. :)

Fantastic haul.

Especially if we can sneak Henderson in somehow.

but its a different attitude issue. removing him from the influences that created havoc prior to this year. showing him marley as an example of someone who the club will provide opportunities to, and guide and assist thru issues. from what has been said on his 2013 efforts, garlett is worth the shot.

but im afraid others will grab him first.

I don't disagree with you at all. I just fear that Bucks does.
That's what counts.

I generally agree, but it wouldn't surprise me if he would be flexible with a young kid that he (and the leadership group) could mold as opposed to the ingrained attitude issues that he seems to be taking umbrage with.

If Sydney can win another flag and franklin kicks 70 that year and 4 in the grand final then you'd say he has given back his worth already when you factor in marketing and the fact he still has many good years in him.

If he can't get them to another flag in the next few years though it will backfire immensely

Not saying we'll take Garlett but I think people are over analysing Buckleys objectives here.

He moved Shaw on because he was not buying in and because he was uncontrollable on field. At the end of the day he'd simply used up too many permission slips.....doing it in a final was the straw that broke the camels back. That doesnt mean we have a "no dickheads policy". Teams with a no dickheads policy also have a no premierships policy. We will still have troubled players and troublesome players on our list. All teams do.

I'm slowly coming around to the view that it may just have been a small group of ex Mick favourites that would not accomodate the veiw of the new coaching panel.

The moves seen in public would support such a supposition, after all no club is spotlessly clean in regard to the behaviour of their young men - as any parent of a teenage boy will tell you, its not so much what they are like when they are singled out as much as it is how they behave in a pack.

Has there been a purge of disaffected souls at Westpack? And does this clear the way for taking on one or two project players?

Interesting times. . .
