Not saying we'll take Garlett but I think people are over analysing Buckleys objectives here.

He moved Shaw on because he was not buying in and because he was uncontrollable on field. At the end of the day he'd simply used up too many permission slips.....doing it in a final was the straw that broke the camels back. That doesnt mean we have a "no dickheads policy". Teams with a no dickheads policy also have a no premierships policy. We will still have troubled players and troublesome players on our list. All teams do.
I think we should recruit/draft as many dickheads as possible.
Win a 'dickhead' premiership, then trade them all out as prime cut premiership players for 'Mr nice guys' then win a Mr nice guy premiership to prove that premierships can be won by any type of player, as long as they are talented, committed, well coached, injury free & a little bit lucky.
A social experiment for our next PhD student.

I think you might have to let go of this one.
A club taking the broom to it's list to improve culture & attitude is unlikely to take this kid.
Not that I'd be against it. I just don't see Bucks ticking this one off.

I just hope to God for his sake he isn't taken by the Saints!

but its a different attitude issue. removing him from the influences that created havoc prior to this year. showing him marley as an example of someone who the club will provide opportunities to, and guide and assist thru issues. from what has been said on his 2013 efforts, garlett is worth the shot.

but im afraid others will grab him first.

Stuff the discipline issues - His footy this year has left huge question marks as to his potential value as an AFL player going forward. He hasn't shown an ability to consistently win his own ball through the middle, or to provide significant tackling pressure in the forward line, making him suspect for both midfield and small forward roles. He'd have to be far more outstanding in his areas of strength for these not to be significant concerns.

If he'd been constantly dominating in the WAFL then the way that some of you talk about taking a shot at him would make sense, but his footy just hasn't been at that level. We know he's talented - He was known as being talented LAST year, and everyone passed then.

I'd be shocked if any club was ready to reserve a senior list spot for him this year when last year, with a slightly better on-field reputation, none were willing to, particularly given that he's done little to correct the issues that plagued him off the field.

Collingwood definitely isn't using a second round pick for him, and I'd doubt if anyone else would consider a pick that high for him either. That nobody would even risk their last pick in the rookie draft for him last year is a very, very damning sign for him.

You can't just latch onto the idea of the guy who might give you a superstar for nothing in return. If it was as risk free and worth the investment as you all think, then clubs would fight over him.

sorry are you being serious? or just subtle trolling

if you are actually serious then you dont know much about trading.

Read my other posts. My basic query on getting the deal done for a pick north of 40 is that there is a big chance that Brisbane are going to get well screwed in the trades involving Yeo, Polec and Longer. They won't get back picks 30, 5, and 8 (25 for Karnezis) that they paid for them so they might be trying to mitigate the damage elsewhere and aim to get a spread of picks in the 20s and 30s. Also it's hard to talk tough when you guys have the tasty tasty draft picks you do.

Does not matter what we have if we won't offer them.

Are you sure of that? I have followed him all year (weekly, on websites & papers). No such issues reported. Coaches happy with his on field & off field year.
Kicked nearly 50 goals playing off half forward (not much on ball time).
He needs to improve fitness & tank, to enable him to spend some time in the midfield.
He is keen to live in Melbourne & is desperate for a shot at AFL.
Worth the risk I say. Roll the dice in a weak draft pool.

So you think that everyone else is going to screw Brisbane and then we're going to get screwed BY Brisbane?

Karnezis will be delisted if he's not traded to us. Brisbane aren't getting anything of value for him.

We could roll the dice in the 3rd/4th rounds if we actually wanted to.

Check his (unbelievably, public) Facebook page:https://www.facebook.com/daylekevin.garlett

I wouldn't be thrilled with that from someone who's looking to prove that they're not a headcase.

Just a thought. It's obvious you guys don't agree. ;)
Brisbane are going to be having a desperate time hanging onto all these young blokes and might not be thinking straight. I doubt they'll delist him though.

really..? seems like a normal 19 year old to me..? Had no issues with anything on his profile..

Most of the bad stuff has been removed obviously so he appears better to recruiters

When i looked last year there was some disgusting stuff. He is very sexist

Obviously last year he wasn't drafted and had some issues.
People change.
I would be stoked if we gave him an opportunity.

Most clubs aren't even interested in him, i'd bet Buckley has already crossed his name off.

A leopard doesn't change its spots

I find it funny how everyone thinks he is so desperate to get onto an AFL list now... if he was so serious and so desperate then why did he wag preseason training? probably so he could get #cooked and #wasted more often

Couldn't be bothered doing a SINGLE day of preseason training. The AFL lifestyle will crush him

My understanding was that he was going to quit football all together.. but was talked back into by his family and Coach.

Got his skin folds down and lost around 7kg, studying health and fitness and never missed a training session.

If a leopard never changes his spots, Dane Swan would never have won a brownlow considering he beat a janitor all those years ago.

Actually, the fact it is public is not surprising at all. The guy seems to get off on attention, so its pretty much as expected.

How convenient that he got talked back into footy just after preseason finished and just before the first game...

Dane Swan is a very different person in a very different situation
