I'm hearing that Adams has nominated Collingwood.

Listening to the "be all and end all" of list management TerryW. on Trade R
Adams worth an R1 Players like Taylor Hunt , West not worth R1 because they are not playing for our club

It has to be a bit more complex that that , surely? Taylor Hunt was in the best 22 till injured and then failed to get back in form.

I do wonder what GWS really expect out of this trade period. Apart from their wet dream of getting an 25 year old Ablett and Riewoldt for P1 , what good solid players would be good for them
Laidler types. To me they would be crazy to knock back Taylor Hunt but thats me. And picks to GWS are not the same to other clubs , they have that much youth do they really need another 4 kids?

They just said on trade radio that he has in fact nominated 5 clubs already and it's basically a matter of who can get the best deal done.......

If the pies offer their first round and Shaw then that seems like a lot to pay and would guzzump anything we could offer. The problem is I don't think Shaw would want to go to GWS, I thought I read he was wanting clubs who are playing finals.

Melbourne supporters are the same TC. They don't really understand how far back from the pack their clubs are. They need to worry about getting a solid player or two in (who can help them win more than 1 game). Not getting the next "Ablett" in the draft or via trade.

Seems sus... who are they quoting?

Not sure. It was Geelong, Pies, Richmond, Carlton and someone else, was multi-tasking, poorly apparently. They said Richmond were basically out of the race though...... seriously, who would want to play under Buckley?

Listening to that I got the feeling they were referring to who Adams met with last week. He met with the Pies and us and a few others and gained information so he could assess where he wanted to go over the weekend.

That doesn't mean he nominated those 4-5 clubs and didn't care who got him. Just that he's narrowed the options. We and the other 4 clubs are essentially the call backs, he'll make a decision soon enough.

He goes on holiday tomorrow. He's gonna get a lot of midnight calls asking where he wants to be.
Oh and whoever thought having a 3 week trade period is a good idea is a ****ing idiot!

That was what I had thought prior to that but I specifically heard them say "has nominated 5 clubs" and Wallace/Barrett saying that he was smart in doing so as it ensures he can get the best deal possible for himself.

So far? We know Thomas doesn't. ;)

It could mean that, but I believe its a case of them using misleading language. In a way he has 'nominated' 5 clubs because that's who he chose to speak to and meet with last week. He reportedly denied meeting Melbourne, who know who else. He's already nominated who he'd consider going to based on that info.

Its now a matter of whether Adams wants to specifically chose a team or just leave it in the hands of his manager and GWS to find the best deal. Personally I cannot see him in the hoops if its the latter, we simply don't have the currency to out bid Collingwood.

Agreed, we're no chance if it's going to become a bidding war. Equalization

Well if thats the case , Id start preparing for an alternate trade strategy because he will end up elsewhere.

Pies are in the Box seat.

They can use Shaw in a possible trade.

They can trade Shaw to another club and add a (possibly) 1st rounder or early 2nd rounder to their already existing picks.

They'll also get compo for Thomas (which I think is tied to their position...again, ahead of us in the draft).

Thomas leaving via FA has given them even more ammo to use.

If I was GWS I know who I'd be dealing with between us and them.

I'm not as down as you guys 1) If Adam's really wanted to go to the Pies he would have nominated them 2) GWS want players, they have picks 1,9 and 19 (more or less) they don't need picks however sexy they are. So unless they can manufacture a trade to get a player as good as Adams to GWS they are no better off than us.

I think its also important to point out that after all of that Wallace and Barrett said that nothing has changed between yesterday and today. Literally there was no movement on this topic.

It would have been nice for him to choose a club today but since when are these deals done on the first day? Caddy was similar last year. It was down to us and the Roos and we didn't hear anything about it until Wednesday. Between Mon and about 10am Wed that week the media and twitter/facebook must've jumped back and forth in regards where 'they heard' Caddy will end up.

We just need to be patient and if he chooses us then great. If not, so be it. We haven't lost anything and we don't want a player who doesn't want to be here.

He has given GWS a number of options and said I'll go with whomever you get the best deal out of. We beat North last year because we had a compo pick up our sleeve which put us in the box seat. Not because Caddy was demanding to go to Geelong over North. I tend to agree with the others that the Pies are in the box seat to get this guy and in the process we will lose out on Shaw too. If that happens then we move on. That's the cut & thrust of the trade period. You win some, you lose some.

If reports are correct that he has left it up to the club to get the best deal from 4-5 clubs I'll be staggered. In fact I don't believe it. I wouldn't want the club to get into a ridiculous bidding war for his services - he's a good young player, but no superstar.

I'll be intrigued as to what the deal is eventually. I reckon he is in danger of being drastically overrated.

You're have forgotten though, GWS don't want draft picks, so Pies given them Daisy Compo or a pick from Shaw is useless to them. They want mature players which is why we apparently offered up Varcoe. I've also herd Shaw doesn't want to go there either.

So unless they're going to use those picks to get another player, they wont want them (Considering they have pick 9 too)
