I think Balme might have something up his sleeve with regards to Taylor Adams. They have said they want players over draft picks, wouldn't surprise me if some unexpected names end up being apart of the deal.
Lonergan perhaps? They're crying out for an experienced KPD whilst some of their younger blokes develop so maybe thats something that could be looked at.

Varcoe, Hunt, West, Sheringham, Stringer, Walker, Schroder all the players I would consider open to movement.

I don't think any of those names are unexpected to be honest. They have probably all been mentioned. And I'm not sure any of them would be attractive to GWS. Hard to find someone.

And who the **** would play full back for us???

This is the part that I don't understand. Born and raised in Geelong, a Cats fan and all his family live here. Not sure how he could pick Collingwood (if indeed he has)
Ive been told he wants to live in the city he must of liked what he saw at the westpac centre and eddies checkbook.

From the AFL site>
Collingwood has firmed as the favourite to snare Greater Western Sydney midfielder Taylor Adams.

Adams' manager, Rous, said the Giants are seeking a mature-age player in exchange for Adams, but if Collingwood received pick No.11 as compensation for losing free agent Dale Thomas to Carlton, that might get the trade done.

Rous said Geelong was still in contention for Adams but admitted the Magpies held more bargaining chips.
I thought scotty lucas was hes manager?

They are both under the same management group.

And the reason?
I might be wrong but I dont get the feeling of any underlying animosity as there may be between Blue/Pies or Hawks/ Cats.

Perhaps they don't wish to strengthen us? Ironic as they are giving him the bums rush out the door , it would seem that he is recognised as a good player and a bad influence which could perhaps be the ultimate bad apple. Sink the Cats. Reason TO trade him to us Id have thought.

Do they respect us too much to send their bad seeds our way , rather palming of their bad boys eslewhere. Laughable

So are we saying that he is a good player and not a bad influence , that they expect him to be an advantage to us. Yet they want to toss him.

What a conundrum.

Meanwhile Adams is probably a dead cert to be in B&W next year. Even without Shaw they have two picks better than our one , and not a player they would take...that we would trade.

OK bring on the swear filters. I wonder what Bartel or Kelly would be worth. They are that preoccupied with 22-25 champs they even knock them back Id say.

Drops head, shaking back and forth slowly. Grabs XMAS card list and crosses out Turbo....:p

GO Catters

Its getting pretty drawn out now - back and forward from Radio to Adams' "team of managers". Unless we seriously consider trading anyone with real currency (see. S. Johnson) we are picking at straws. There is only 2 ways this deal gets done:

1. Shaw refuses to play for GWS and signs here for a second round pick. He is worth no more but no less. While he has pace he butchers the ball and is 28. I'm not giving up a potential 10 year player to see his smug face running around in the hoops for the next 3. If Collingwood don't want that let, we let him walk and either he plays in the 2s or GWS pick him up for cents on the dollar... which we can all live with.

2. Shaw wants to stay at Collingwood and Adams pushes the Geelong card. He was taken with pick 13 so realistically pick 15/16 will get the deal done. You're not going to make a profit on your draft stocks in the space of 2 years and that's important to remember because this move will be setting a precedent for GWS. There are going to be a lot of homesick young kids over the next few years and if they show they're wanting to do the right thing the players will respect that and try to grow together. They're on the right path and have recruited well so the minute they play hardball with other clubs their own players lose faith in the shared vision and wonder if it is right for them. Gold Coast did the right thing with Caddy so expect the same approach for Adams.

It's drawn out like a lot of these deals because clubs are waiting to see what compo is going to be handed out (post-18 October). This means most of the trading action will occur in the last week (surprise, surprise).

Quite frankly, at this stage I'm a little surprised Geelong is still in the game given Collingwood's seemingly strong position. The only reasons I can think of that this would be the case are:

1. Adams has indicated Geelong as his preference but his management have advised him to not rule out Collingwood who will be better placed to get the deal done.

2. Geelong is yet to reveal its full hand and has convinced Adams' management to keep Geelong on the line while other deals get done.

Either way, let's just wait and see how it plays out.

Completely agree on both those points - wouldn't be surprised if he is one eyed Geelong but is holding out due to managerial advice. We all saw how that worked out for Dustin Martin...

I wonder also whether, despite claims by Adams' management to the contrary, that any deal by Collingwood hinges on Shaw agreeing to go to them. They appear to be after mature players rather draft picks so if Shaw is out then it possibly leaves them without as strong a bargaining position as we might think.

Unlike many I think that Shaw coming to us actually strengthens our ability to land Adams.

I know very little about the character of the kid (other than seeing his photo in the Advertiser when he was going to Court) but I just get the feeling he would really love the opportunity to get a sleeve tattoo and play for Collingwood.

I don't know why, but I laughed and nodded at this!

Well fashion is not his thing. Beards are in, Sleeves are out

After near completion of week 1, do most on hear feel that Adams is our trade month focal point, perhaps even the only player we'll be going after via trade or FA. I realise these things can be unpredictable and sometimes sudden, but after a week of inaction and no-official comments regarding Adams, none of us seem to know what the Cats are doing*

*That being said, numerous examples with our list management and recruiters have shown us to be more than smooth operators during trade periods, often stealthily flying under the radar popping up where people don't expect us and reaping in the goodies. Hopefully this holds true in the next few weeks, yet the possibility of it all going to the contrary is getting frustrating

Is Adams worth losing a pick 15? No way, imo.
We can and should be starting to get as many high draft picks, in our REBUILD, as we can.

If we were to get Sheed with pick 15 then I'd be ecstatic. This kid just knows how to find the footy, make great decisions and deliver it well. The advantage in taking Adams is the 2 years of development he has in front of him. If you want someone to pretty much make an immediate impact then Adams is your man. If we can afford to be patient then maybe Sheed or one of the other draftees might be the preference.
