Taylor Walker's dangerous tackle on Morris

Cannot believe those morons on 5AA. They reckon 1 week for God's sake. At least Graham Cornes should remember a chap called Neil Sachse ( a South Australian ) who played for Footscray, and was make a quadraplegic after copping a heavy bump back in the 70's. I am not comparing the 2 incidents, and I don't think Walker meant to severely hurt Morris. However seriously poor tackling techniques which have the potential to cripple a player for life need to be stomped on. I reckon Walker can count himself lucky he was given the opportunity to take 3 weeks.

What exactly did you hear? When I last listened to 5AA (before the MRP verdict) Cornes & Rowe said they thought it was worth 2-3 weeks, Robert Walls agreed with them. They were very sensible and pragmatic about it.

I'm glad Morris is ok and hopefully Walker will improve his tackling technique. Yes the umpire should have reversed the decision and the MRP said so. Is it really that unusual for umpires to stuff up?

Case closed, let's move on.

They certainly changed there mind after the three weeks they predicted came to pass. There pre verdict sensibility and pragmatism also seems to have gone missing.

Walker's accepted 3 weeks. Walker's a thug, Richmond are dobbers.

See you in September, no wait, see you next year.

Paybacks a bitch aye?

I feel sorry for Taylor if he's not smart enough to realise that type of tackle's not on. What's the problem with just dragging him to ground? Nah, he just wanted to be the tough man and hurt him in the tackle, nothing wrong with that if it's legal, but it wasn't. And it should be an automatic 6 weeks to get it out of the game, like RL are doing.
Poor old Taylor doesn't look like the sharpest tool in the shed but a message like that should have done the trick I suspect.

As for the bleating about his suspension, lol.

Richmond should appeal.....the sentence wasnt sufficient. Cite examples from the NRL and how long their players got for a dangerous throw, then publicly suggest that the AFL doesnt take dangerous tackles as serious as the NRL........soccer mums in Western Sydney will not want their kids playing Australian Rules if this could happen to their kid.

How are Richmond do here?
The MRP cited Walker and as required we submitted a medical report as every club needs to do. No Adelaide style dobbing from our end you fool

I was 2 for 2 :)

Predicted 3 weeks AND Geisch would say the umpire was right, because even though the judgement was wrong, from the perspective he had it looked right, so therefore he's right!

Jokes aside, I have one question for the ump - on what planet were you to NOT see Morris lifted off the ground during the tackle as your AFL defenders have claimed? I get not being able to see a punch or head high if the ump is on the wrong end of a pack, but this was in open play and he was off the bloody ground. An umpire can only adjudicate what he sees, but he also has a responsibility to best position himself to ensure he sees as much of the game as possible. If he was out of position for this incident, thats just poor umpiring IMO

This is the same umpire that didn't see Enright go 40 metres off his line, to be fair.

We're talking about umpires here, not real people. Free kick to Walker should have been overturned. I guess all 3 field umpires didn't see it?

Lifting a player off the ground isn't itself an illegal act. The umpire may well have been unsighted for 'the drop' as it were. Still not a great decision on the day. Having said that, with the benefit of replays there are plenty of people on this thread who still can't see it as a dangerous tackle. Also, the umpire's decision was no worse than the one Walker took, they're all human.

At least Taylor Walker knew he did the wrong thing unlike a lot of Adelaide supporters when he approached Steve Morris after the game to apologise, no malice in it at all just a brain fade and hopefully he learns from it and we all move on even though some still can't seem to let go...

Imagine if it was Gary Ablett on the end of that tackle.

10 weeks.

Taylor should cut out this tackling bullshit and just knocked peoples heads off because if he'd done what wellingham did Kade Simpson would be dead and only 3 games/5
