We'd be getting hard-pressed for excuses to drop this guy. GAWD. Love his work. His left foot kick is punishing. What a pick up. :thumbsu:

Wasn't it just, everyone went crazy. He kicked a similar goal against West Coast. He's such an accurate and long kick, you could play him up forward.

How good was the 30 second passage of play in the 3rd. Block the handball, takes it and casually trots to the 50 for a goal. After the bounce the dogs go forward and against 3 guys grabs the ball with one hand, fends off with the other slams it around his body onto Jimmy's chest. Class.

Big H played everywhere over the last few years for East Freo including a lot of time up forward and through the guts. His coach last year, Shane Woewoedin said that H's preperation was second to none that he's seen.

Massive pick by Wells. The fact that he can slot in and out of the best side in the comp and actually have an impact on games is a great sign.

Will he play exclusively as a backman throughout his career.
I know its enormous call but if he can put on some bulk, I can see abit of Pavlich in him in a way?

id like to see him play a quarter up forward sometime against a smaller bodied defense
just to see how he goes
might take the opposition offguard, and see how he can kick set shots?

He needs to buld up a bit as he gets found out by the stronger forwards but I reckon hitting the weights over summer will make a huge difference. I agree about his kicking though....it is superb.

From what I hear, and also going on what Rosso said, he can play up forward. I would like to see experiment with him in the forward line at some point.

I'll admit I took a bit of convincing with him but geez, for a guy who's played just a handful of games he's composed under pressure, and his kicking is right up there with the best in the side, great pick up.

How the hell are we gonna slot Matty Egan back in is what I want to know!

Watching him casually slot that goal from 50 after that smother was just awesome. I am just stoked for the lad, he is doing so bloody well and just slots right in. What a pick-up!

Steven Wells is fantastic, let me just say that.

Egan can handle the big strong CHF players like Cloke and Pavelich that lighter built players like Harry would struggle against. Egan, when he is fit, will have no problems slotting back into the side.

I'm hoping we give Harry a role that allows him to flex his creative muscle when Egan comes back. His two goals have been sensational.

I think Taylor could do great things up forward. He has shown that long accurate kicks are a piece of cake while he is two goals from two shots from outside fifty; i think he has CHF written all over him. He could eventually be one of the premier swingmen in the comp, playing the Hunter role to an extent.

Inspired and courageous choice by Wells. Not many clubs would take a 21 year old with their first round pick.

As mentioned earlier in the thread his long left foot kicks are outstanding and to goal from outside 50 against the wind in the 3rd says a lot about his kicking prowess. He needs to spend a couple of pre-seasons in the gym working on his upper body to match it with some of the power forwards but it's unrealistic to expect him to beat them going toe to toe in his first season of AFL. I also think he feels a little rushed when the ball hits in the ground and can be prone to some fumbling but as he becomes more comfortable with playing at this level it should fade away.

He has a bright future ahead of him but there isn't any doubt that he has been helped out a lot(creating an aura of supreme confidence) by our other defensive players.
