Ten confirm - No GF coverage in HD

They are already nearly broke and without the AFL next year they will go further down.

Most of their top rating shows like Master Chef are on the downward slope and with a ******** like Murdoch Jr at the helm they will sink pretty fast.

Qualifying for the Moto GP, so not even the actual race. Disappointing that they can't show it on 11. If you've got One, you've got 11 so no one's getting shafted there.

Their GF coverage for St Kilda Geelong was probably one of the best coverage of sport that this country's ever produced. Wouldn't of thought it'd go backwards from there.

its not their fault that they aren't allowed to play it on 11 (anti syphoning laws haven't changed yet)
However it is their fault that they don't have a HD primary channel. Just like 7

I don't live in Australia anymore so it doesn't really effect me, but this is beyond pathetic. What year is it?

I wonder what kind of feed ESPN2 will get in the US. Is it possible they might show it in HD outside of Australia (assuming it is filmed with HD cameras)? That would be laughable.

There's a very strong chance, the State of Origin rugby league was only SD here but was shown in the States on Fox Soccer channel (or whatever it's called) in HD, over summer The Ashes were in SD here but HD on Sky in the UK

Yeah I don't buy that argument of theirs. They DO NOT have to show the Moto GP. They can however, offer the rights to that race to other FTA broadcasters. If no one takes it, then it goes to Foxtel. The AFL GF should be on Ten and One HD, and a single Moto GP race should be on-sold.

Must-offer rules
Must-offer requirements will mean that free-to-air broadcasters must use the rights they acquire to anti-siphoning listed events OR offer those rights on to other broadcasters.

The must-offer obligations will require that where a free-to-air broadcaster holds a right to an anti-siphoning listed event and will not meet the relevant coverage requirement, they must offer those rights on to other free-to-air broadcasters in advance of the commencement of the event. If no free-to-air broadcaster takes up those rights, the subscription broadcasting rights must be offered-on to pay television.

None of them do. That I believe is because of government legislation that mandates the analogue FTA must be simulcast in SD.

The quicker we get rid of analogue and the concept of "main channels" the better.

Yeah if the commercial channels won't three different offerings (i.e. Ten/One/Eleven), then as it stands they cannot have a HD feed of their main channel.

Government hasn't released enough bandwith to them, and they can't have their main channel in HD as it has to be in SD until 2013 at the earliest.

But still poor form by Ten, nothing stopping them putting the bikes on Eleven.

Essentially decade-old reruns of The Love Boat, Macgyver and Roseanne are being given precedence over an AFL Grand Final being shown in HD...

Is it being filmed in HD anyway? So so long as its eventually released in HD when it comes to bluray / dvd.

Otherwise though, its shocking form by Channel 10. They've still cracked the sads no doubt about that. Thank heavens its all on Fox/Seven next year :thumbsu:

At least they're showing the 2nd semi live.

This Friday's game between Collingwood and Hawthorn will be the last ever game of AFL to not be shown live. Things are moving forward.

Yep, looks like it now.

I checked the AFL site this morning and it said 30 minute delay. Better Homes and Gardens has been moved to Saturday night.

So hooray for no more delayed telecasts EVER :thumbsu:

A while off before all games, let alone the Grand Final or even all finals will be in HD though

WITH ONLY 18% OF VIEWERS Last night TEN would in in deep **** in trying to get advertisers to pay for that very poor penetration of viewers.

As I have said before TEN are on a slippery slope to going broke under the idiot Murdoch kids direction!LOL.

FTA Last night: Seven (3 channels) won with a share of 35.5%, from Nine (3) on 24.6%, Ten (3) was on 18.4%, the ABC (4) was on 16.7% and SBS (2) ended on 4.7%.

Seven leads the week with 34.4% from Nine on 27.4%

and Ten on 18.0%.
