Thought I'd just send a big shoutout to some of the people who sit around me by posting some of their 'pearls of wisdom' so far for this year. Feel free to add to this:


Guy in the row behind me - "This is so frustrating, James Sellar is the biggest draft bust ever and his draft year was a superdraft. The Crows don't know how to draft first rounders, we should bring back McGregor."

Me - "Uh it's his first game and he's not even 20"

Him -"How many opportunities has he had to prove his worth though!"


Random lady 2 rows in front of me and her only comment for the game -

"Why do the crows always draft players who can't kick. Kurt Tippett is just terrible! Drag him Craigy!"


Crows kick short from kick in to back pocket

Guy in front of me - "OH FOR GODS SAKES KICK THE BALL FORWARD THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING, THIS IS WHY WE LOSE GAMES"

Kick goes 50 metres down wing straight to Kangas player

Same Guy - "Thats a better kick!"


Guy 2 seats away from me (sarcastically) "Shirley is better than Judd!"

lady behind me " No he's not!!!! :mad:"


End of the 3rd quarter 3 rows back, lady yells "Watch the Crows lose this, we're terrible in games like this (up by 60)".....

...... (20 odd minutes into last, up by 38) "I said we'd lose this. Stupid Crows!"


Lady behind me again -

"When the crowd cheers and the ball is out of bounds with one of our players kicking it back in does that mean we did something good?"


And again

Griffin drops a ball "God, when's Biglands fit!!!! :mad:"


And one more

"We've kicked 15 goals 14 and that's almost 15 goals 15 and if we keep kicking more points then soon we'll have more points than goals."


But my personal favourite from a footballing expert loudly talking 2 rows back.

"Our young kids are only playing so good because of the work Alec Stewart has done with them. When you consider how well Ottens Jarrad Jacky, Richard Douglas and Brett Reilly have played this season, it's just testimony to his coaching. I think he'll be our next coach."

So in short, we need to hire more Ex-English wicketkeepers as development coaches. :D
 
I know what you mean Raving Servant. I heard some horrid comments regarding Sellar and others at the game last night. The amount of BS that you hear being thrown around is shocking. Drag Tippett? Idiots. :thumbsdown:

Someone actually said we should delist Porplyzia last night after a particular passage of play!
 
Aaah Football, one of the prime attracters of ____wits world wide!

But yeah the amount of times I've heard people wanting to drop/delist Ricciuto/Mcleod/Edwards has been pretty pathetic.

The lady behind me shits me off so much. She'll make some random ass comment about every single piece of play. Usually negative. Almost always WAY off the mark. ALWAYS annoying... but on occassion quite comical.

The other week she had this to say.
"Where's Tippett! Kick it to Tippett! Why won't you kick it to Tippett?" (Tippett had the ball).

Mostly she just rips into Burton though. :rolleyes:

I do, because I am wonderful at most things. This is like my online shrine to them. I do it less now however as I am banished from alcohol at footballing events.

The problem with this is the incredibly high regard the world holds FD88 in. If it is a woman that FD88 preaches the word to at the footy, she demands marriage and babies; FD88 doesn't hook up with unintelligent women. If it is a man that FD88 preaches the word to, he demands that FD88 fathers his wife's babies which presents a moral dilemma. A tough situation for FD88 indeed young Rooster of the Lads.

Edit: Almost forgot - everyone mindlessly loves McGregor's game too.

There is an old lady who sits behind me every week and only ever applauds a good piece of play by the opposition. Why support the Crows?
 
The woman that sits near me is a shocker when McLeod or VB kick it into the space in front of the bloke on the lead she's like 'oh for christs sake who is that to...(Burton runs through about now and takes it on his chest)...good kick'.


Or a player will look up and see five opposition players to our one in our fifty and hold the ball up and she'll start abusing the crap out of them. Then they'll chip it around and slowly work it into the forward fifty and get a shot on goal and it'll be 'see it's not that bloody hard, why not do that the first time?'.


Trouble is...she's me mum.

Lolz. I recommend you still take it up to her, put her in her place. Just turn to her, look her in the eye and say, "Now listen here Mother.....please please don't do that :eek:" and then cringe in case she slaps you.

Seriously I wouldn't try it. Mothers are scary. :eek: :p

it seems that crows fans over here in Melbourne are much more positive :thumbsu:
i dont think many could be worse than collingwood supporters for abuse at there own players

I went to the ANZAC game and the Crows/Carlton game last week....

Even when the Pies were 10 goals up they would not be happy and were waiting fro Essendon to come back. The Blues supporters were cheering and proclaiming victory in the 2nd quarter. I found the Blues supporters far more passionate than the Pies. And amazingly tha atmosphere was better at the Carlton Crows game than the ANZAC one.

At Footy Park we have a lady two rows behind that shouts "Holding the Ball" everytime a Crows player gets near an oppostion player with the ball..

I also actually saw someone knitting last night, first time ever....

I made a terrible call, terribly hilarious.

When that cry baby Nathan Thompson took a mark in the last quarter? By illegally throwing Basset out of the way. After another dubious umpire call with regards to marks, which resulted in Thompson being paid it, I said:

"Well, they had to give him that mark otherwise he might have offed himself"

Thankyou, thankyou. Making fun of depression is the height of comedy.

We had some terriblely negative supporters when we sat on the outer wing a couple of years back. Real 'cup half empty' people. You know what we did?

I can barely stand listening to him sometimes, he gets really negative at times. Brings the whole commentary down.
