what happened yesterday in melbourne with the tesltra dome roof ?

if one didnt know any better ,one would assume that the person responsible for pushing the button to close the thing is a bumbers fan ..

not since the moorrabin days have i seen such tampering too a ground .

before all you bumbers fans jump up and down look at the facts hey !!!

the roof was delibratly left open too soften and wet the ground , this making the best tall in the game (cox) rendered pretty much useless , and forcing the eagles too take kerr out of the team , he was set too play .

now as a punter i did have a small interst on the eagles , nothing serious as it was a toss up , but had i known an hour before the game that the roof had been open all day during the rain then i would have backed the bumbers .

so i ask what happened too the roof ? and will it occur again ? i have never seen it happen in the history of the staduim , i know it has rained and they closed it before the ground got damp , but last nights game was the first wet game ever played at the dome that i know of .

will the afl act ?

Yep, I can just see it now. Matty Knights talking to one D Hille, "Now we've stuffed the ground for talls and Cox, we want you to have a blinder. It's impossible for the big blokes to play out there, so go for your life."

It may well be that the Groundspeople, in their wisdom, decided that the Dome turf was in need of pH-neutral, soft, oxygenated rain water as opposed to the stuff it normally gets containing ammonia, fluoride, chlorine and so on. The surface is a lot better than it used to be, I wouldn't be too critical.

The roof has never been closed all day before a game at any stage in the past so why start now.
There is a simple reason why they do not do it . They have enough problems keeping the grass growing with the roof open so they simply can't have the roof closed for long periods of time.

Amazing that Cox was completely neutralised by the conditions when the much less mobile, less fit and more clumsy David Hille was able to have the best game of his career...

sorry guys , the question must have gone over your heads .

i have been too couple of games at the dome when it has rained during the day and yes the roof was shut , i know it sounds stupid and not all of you will understand , but here goes any way ,

the roof believe it or not was put on the dome so that perfect conditions could be acheived no matter what the weather is out side , it is not there too keep you melbournites warm you know .

the a league that someone has mentioned asked for naturual conditions , so the roof was left open , i bet and won on the game ...

hille has played some great matches in the wet , one against the pies comes too mind , cox on the other hand struggles in the wet and have seen him do so couple times from the west , not too take anything from hille , i rate the guy , i thought he should have been in that afl centenary game , i do think he is in the top 4 rucks goind around , but make no mistake the number 1 is cox and he loves a dry track .

sorry too all you kids that thought i was trying too take anything from the bumbers , that was not my intentions , i only wanted too know who and why was the roof left open , and why did we have the first ever wet game at the indoor areana ?

as a punter you do not expect a wet track inside the dome .

And where does Daniel Kerr come into this?

Is he secretly the Wicked Witch of the West?

Why, apart from everything else that's wrong with the OP, would a wet surface force Kerr out of the team?

Conditions would have suited him perfectly.

USually the wet grounds tend to be harder on the players in terms of their running ability.

But to the OP, both had to face the conditions. Not sure why the roof was open however.

If it was left open to help Essendon, next time they should tell us so we don't pick such a top heavy foward line.

thats a pathetic point. cox doesnt play tall, thats why he's so good. if anything he should play better in the wet. and if cox played crap in the slippery conditions, why did hille manage to play so well? cox just had a bad night, simple as that. good thing about that is you know he'll probably get bog next week as he doesnt have 2 bad ones in a row very often

Does anyone else see the irony.

Complaing cause the roof was left open and it made Hille the better ruckman and so it had to have been fixed and someone cheated in the afl (not that thats a surprise)
Wanting the roof closed cause then Cox could be the dominate ruckman even though for hundreds of years footy has been played in the rain, but the guy would have won his bet (therefor the afl woul dhave cheated by making it perfect conditions so Cox could dominate.) Hmmmm. I guess the afl cant win here.
