Man I remember watching us kick the shit out of Essendon in 2016 - Bruce kicked 5 McCartin 2 and Membrey 3 - and I was convinced this was the forward line that would lead us for a decade.

That group of forwards didn't even stay together for 4 years and 8 years later the last one is gone.

Membrey was always my favourite though.
Agree 100%

Tim was the best most reliable forward we had at our club for many many years, was a veritable dead eye Dick for at least the first half of his career until that Ben Dixon re-mortalised him with his great coaching. Starved of success yet remained loyal. Won't find a Saints fan anywhere who wishes him ill.

Much like Nicky Winmar at the end of his time at St Kilda, I certainly don't begrudge him a chance to go for gold with another club in his final year/s as long as we avoid the Luke Ball ending, thanks Tim!

Strange comment? Marshall & Steele etc. won't be leading us to our next flag either, more than likely.
How is it a strange comment?
King, Sharman, Caminiti and Owens are the future.
Who’s pushing Steele and Marshall out.
You don’t exit all your experienced players at once and obviously skunk was the first to be shown the door.
Love Skunk but clearly it was in his best interest to move on and probably ours aswell.

I think this is a dreadful decision by the club.
In my opinion he still had a lot to offer and is a very different player to anyone else on the list.
His performances improved as the season wore on, not the lone ranger there, and he ended up being a very useful forward.
The opposition always had to show him decent respect as failing to do so was a significant risk.
I can't help but feel that our forward line is going to take a step backward because of this.
Love Timmy but I think the club have got this right. As defenders get taller every season Tims timing of picking the ball in the air gets less effective. Tall defenders can be out of position but still reach the ball first.
The best guide to the decision is how many clubs came for him: Two, and only one got to the contract stage.
Good luck Tim. Play well but don't win too often.

We are in a position where we need to show improvement this year in order to attract quality players next year.
You don't do that by weakening the team.
Tim is a better forward right now than any of Owen, Sharman and Caminiti even though he is likely to be surpassed in the next two years.
So by moving on Tim we have weakened the side for next year.
We have got rid of Tim because he is getting older and won't be a part of our next push for a premiership yet we recruited Macrae. The logic is just not consistent.

For mine, we have gone, head first into that Luke Ball like ending, with the delisting of our much liked Tim.

Owens finished top ten in the b and f this year. Where'd Tim finish?

I don't know where he finished but he played 4 fewer games than Owens but kicked 10 more goals. So I repeat at this time he is a better forward than Owens.
Fair enough. Definitely knows where to find the goals and he got going towards the end of the year no doubt. Still think there are other elements of his game that fell a fair bit short but in his last 6 games he was very good. The worry for me is we now lack depth in that area.
