Goldust and Vader (!) appear on RAW
They're about 90 mins through RAW as I type this and there has been 10 minutes of wrestling at best.
Austin gone and won't be appearing on the PPV.
During a segment featuring Jonathan Coachman challenging Steve Austin to meet him in the ring tonight on Raw, Vince McMahon announced that Austin had "been in an accident" over the weekend and wouldn't appear on Raw or tomorrow's Taboo Tuesday, saying it in such a way that he intimated it wasn't true.
McMahon announced Coachman had won via forfeit, then announced that Coachman would face someone from the Smackdown roster on the PPV. They teased it would be Funaki, but it then turned out to be WWE World champion Batista. Batista was then laid out by Coachman, Vader, and Goldust (who had been introduced as Coach's hired hands) to put some hotshot momentum behind the match for tomorrow's PPV.
As noted earlier on PWInsider.com, the original plan going into the PPV was that Coachman would defeat Austin after interference from Mark Henry. When Austin (who would have been wrestling his first official match since a Wrestlemania XIX loss to The Rock in Seattle, Washington) learned of the plan yesterday, sources indicated he was extremely angry over the creative direction, which had led to issues between he and WWE. There had been rumors all day that Austin wasn't going to appear at the PPV.
It was later announced that the same match stipulation voting would now be incorporated into the Batista vs. Coachman bout. There was no indication as to how the Jim Ross storyline would continue from this point on.
Also it's now Eugene and "WWE Legend" vs Conway and Tomko now, instead of the handicap match as previously announced.
