I am sure you are making a point re coach worthiness in today's game.
Though your point is clumsy, kindly note, a coach is super important.
They set up so many things, ofcourse they do.
However, blaming the coach is to me way too simplistic.
The coach doesn't get the ball. Starts there.

Anyway disappointing week, many more disappointments to come following sport.
That's how it goes.

blaming the coach for things outside of his control is simplistic, but excusing him for things within his control is equally simplistic.

So I'm more and more agreeing that there are problems of leadership at the club.

But I'm also more and more convinced that it is on-field.

Whether Bucks gave the players a spray or not today, I'm sure Pendles didn't. And Maxwell would have. Would have grabbed them all and been brutally honest about where they are at. We miss him more than people appreciate. People overate Pendles because he's a gun player, but just like Mitchell at the Hawks, both the player and the club might benefit from shifting the captaincy to someone else.

(Said something similar in another thread, but don't mind repeating myself since we have "sack Buckley" in every thread at the moment ).

It's not on field mate. Our players are being told to play in a way that is no longer effective. Sad to say but it is the coach.

Is McCartin there yet ? How about Billings, Acres,Lonnie,Bruce, are they there yet ? How many players do the Saints have that are considered elite in their positions ? Enough with the excuses for Bucks.
And these players are flag winners yet?
Hmmmm maybe not....
But you're entitled to your opinion, that's ok it's how you think, no dramas at all from my Ne.
We must just see things differently

So in a simplistic way we agree. :) That's good.

Given the immediate choices, me.
Blame today is 50/50 players have a lot to answer for.
But then again, too many on here over-rate some of our players and unsurprising blame the coach.

You seem to be saying that our list is not where it should be. I agree.
This is in spite of the significant amount of high end draft picks that we have had access to in the last 5 years and the top talent we still had in our experienced core. Draft picks have not had the impact you would hope for and players have generally not developed as you would hope for and expect. In too many games there is an obvious lack of fire and desire in the playing group. Skills are woeful and draft/trade choices have not helped here despite it being at an obvious all time high in terms of importance. For 5 years our players have failed to execute a gameplan of any significance. Coaches build teams, build lists, instill gameplans and tactics and build that all important intangible teamwork thing. When these things are visibly lacking year after year it is unsurprising that people start to blame the coach and wider coaching staff.

Can bucks bucks turn it around? Surly he has a plan B to fall on because he's zones just don't work, I believe he has made a good enough list to work with?

We all desperately wanted to beat Richmond, we did. We don't care about St Kilda, we lost. Probably the same against Melbourne then we will thump Essendon and Carlton. At least we win important ones.

In other news, Freeman had 46 touches in the thirds and didn't play the 4th quarter... Wish I was lying but I'm not.
Finals were up for grabs last year and a rabble coachless Essendon side beat us last year ..
Yeah we win the importan ones

They most certainly looked like potential flag winners playing against us. Whilst we looked like ..... well the way we have looked since half way through last year.

Your unwavering acceptance and defense of 5 years of sustained failure is admirable. Keep up the good work Saintly.:thumbsu:

Coming from the Bart Cummings stable I understand a few things very well.

1) patience us the cheapest thing in life but often the least used
2) you need a good preparation to achieve real success
3) you need the right horses / cattle / players to win the big ones consistently
4) Bart Cummings was a WINNER! He was the greatest ever. Because he understood the above.

(Ps Nathan is no Bart, but nobody is, so here we are)

Lol at all the Bucks haters.. it's extremely clear Bucks has had us on the right track since from when he took over and we got worse every year...

He was a great player so I have full confidence he will be a great coach.

You are Drunk or Doing Drugs at the moment?

Buckey must see out his contract! He got us into this mess and he must get us out of it.
In Bucks we trust.
Won't happen if don't make the 8. The board has too much pride to accept mediocrity or worse this year. 2014 they could go down the youth/rebuild path. 2015 they could only just scrape by with that excuse. Unless there is a Mick Malthouse and Carlton like debacle through the year, the club will afford Buckley the respect to coach out the season but tell him it's not working out (see Tony Shaw). All the while putting in the hard work behind the scenes to snare the best replacement coach.

Or we make the 8 and Bucks stays on

We had the youngest list in the AFL out there today. What do people expect? Goldsack and Blair were amongst our poorest out there today and they are two of our 2010 premiership heroes. We have no choice but to continue the path. There's no going back. It may or may not be Buckley, but at some point there will come a turning point. The list believe or not is a healthy one (my view).

Don't worry guys, Leading teams will fix it cos they've revolutionised our culture. The players will this week take responsibility for the loss and the tell each other what is wrong with their teammates. They will express their feelings and hug each other. Bucks will ask the players to motivate themselves. And in his presser he knows where we are going wrong So that's good. If leading teams could get them to write their feelings about each other then the players could develop a more positive attitude to losses going forward. Leading teams have made us a force to be reckoned with over the past five years. Money well spent! It equals the dynamic progress that our fitness department is making. Keep up the good work with our membership money pies. Sadly I'm a Bucks supporter but there are times even in my family where we have to sit down and reevaluate what our plans with my loved ones are. Sarcasm aside. We've been caught with our game plan pants down with the changing style of some sides. Wasted pre season. Yep. Get ready for some real hard times again with some critical injuries this year and the ghost of Freeman will send this board into meltdown.

He's also playing out of his best position because our moron coach wants to play a top 5-10 player in the comp on the backline instead of in the midfield

Perhaps, but no more of a moron than the number of armchair experts in here that were repeatedly suggesting in the preseason that Pendles should be playing across half back ...
