I've read it too..

Horrible, but if it gets kids stuck into reading, I applaud Stephenie Meyer.

if by kids you mean Young females...... in fact I believe Most Young females have read it , are reading it now, or are going to read it soon.

and around 90% of them have fallen for Edward. can't say that I haven't either ;)

The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett.

About a quarter of the way through and it is a good read.

Made #33 in the Big Read - http://www.bbc.co.uk/arts/bigread/top100.shtml

Brilliant read ..one of my all time favorite books ..i just read it again before reading the sequel " A world without end" I enjoyed the sequel as well.

Just finished reading "the story of Edgar Sawtelle" An absolutely amazing book that will stay with you long after you finish reading it ....for various reasons.

I really enjoyed that book. One of those novels that you end up getting clear images in your head of the characters and settings.

Definitely.

Be interesting to see how the film turns out.

Starring John Malkovich as David Lurie...

Re: The "What are you reading now" thread

Been doing a lot of reading lately.

Last week I read "The Last Lecture", by Randy Pausch.
Today I just finished "Lying on the Couch", by Irvin Yalom.

Have just started "The Power of One", by Bryce Courtney. I was recently given "Tandia" (the sequel to TPOO) so thought I'd better go read TPOO to do it justice.

I can't deny it either, just dodge the question haha.

Kids are kids, who cares about the gender?

The French Revolution - Christopher Hibbert.

I studied the French Rev in VCE so it's kinda basic, but still an entertaining read and a good refresher since it has been so long since I studied it.

Haunted by Chuck Palanhuik.

Was reading Lullaby last week for the second time and like an addict I needed some new Chuck. Went to QBD yesterday and bought Hanuted and ordered Survivor... the only 2 of his I dont have.

Second chapter into Haunted is about a kid masturbating in the bottom of the pool while having his ass sucked by the pool vacuum.

Just after he blows he realises he cant break free off the pump and is starting to drown.. he manages to get a leg up and pushes off the bottom, only to see a long trail coming out of his ass back to the pool... Its his intestine, the pool is sucking him inside out, and the only way he wont drown is to bite through it.

One of the most thoroughly disgusting and disturbing chapters Ive read, but oh so CP :thumbsu:

After reading the paragraph re the swimming pool etc i wouldn't bother with the book ..I tend to read books that can be somewhat factual..i have no problem with the blood and guts (excuse the pun) but i cannot forgive total innacuracies ....the boy seeing undigested food in his lower intestine was just too medically incorrect...sure there may be corn kernells and peanuts but vitamin tablets ??? they are designed to dissolve in the stomach ..no way would one survive to pass through the lower intestine ..and as for the sister getting pregnant from swimming in the pool amid her brothers sperm ..i mean c'mon .

All of his books have impossibilities. But its the letting go of reality that makes much fiction, not just Palanhuik's, pleasurable.

So something like The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy would be total trash to you?

Star Wars - Death Star

I feel ripped off cause I was looking foward to reading more about Palpatine, but so far there has been nary a scene of him in it (more Darth Vader and his self-indulgent crap blaming him for his condition)
