Mark Nicholas just interviewed Wasim Akram. He was talking about how to swing the ball, I hope the Aussie boys were watching. Maybe invite him to conduct a coaching session or two. I still think he is the second best pace bowler I've ever seen, behind Lillee.

Would be nice to hear Wasim in the commentary box, maybe he and Waqar Younis could do a few overs together.

From experience he isn't that good as a commentator.

On the Slats with the Tubby dropping things crap. I wonder with Waqar next to him how he would have felt with the whole Saleem Malik thing since he is kind of banned.

^ I vaguely remember Bradman, or someone with almost as much clout, saying Akram was the best left-arm pace bowler they'd seen.

When I first read this I thought you meant you vaguely remember Bradman playing and I thought, jeepers, you are older than I thought :p

Did anybody here Taylor interview Azhar Ali this morning and he asked him is it motivation to not get out because of how far it is from the MCG dressing room to the pitch?
FFS

I read a news article that said Nicholas had a ruptured appendix... but I'm guessing they were making it up. Because there is no way you get back to work that quickly after a ruptured appendix. Or even bog-standard appendicitis.

Listened to them last week when "Maddo" was batting and immediately was reminded why I turn the volume down when Taylor, Slater and co. speak.
I disagreed with them. I believe Maddo is Crappo.

McGrath, Warne and Slater having a love in at the moment. Good think I've got the radio going.
You'd be forgiven for thinking it was the tea break because they aren't talking much about the game

Not many comments. It's been a better season. I've been impressed with everyone bar Warne cause it's Warne.

Also there is an article on those fairfax sites.

The commentary is relaxed, chatty and given to joshing. But it also comes with insightful analysis, notably from Ricky "Punter" Ponting – because everyone on this TV team needs a nickname: Damien "Flem" Fleming, Adam "Gilly" Gilchrist, Mark "Howie" Howard, Mark "Junior" Waugh.

But these nicknames came from their playing days though.

It has miked players on the field, allowing the commentators to chat, for example, to Melbourne Stars batsman Kevin Pietersen as he's about to face a delivery, or asking Adelaide Strikers captain Brad Hodge what he's planning as he juggles his fieldsmen.

C9 did it first though.

The commentary crew lights up as brightly as the excellent zing stumps when Brisbane Heat's Chris Lynn hits successive sixes or Perth Scorchers' Ashton Agar takes another speccy catch. They generate an infectious excitement about the contest, as well as its appealing accompaniments, like the Legends competition, which showcases the efforts of kids playing in their backyards as well the dedicated volunteers who enable club cricket to tick.

While I don't like Legends. I mean T20 Big Bash isn't like commentating a test match. Also C9 does that with Commonwealth bank (volunteers).

Nine's coverage, especially by comparison, seems stale and complacent, anachronistically blokey and unjustifiably self-satisfied. Its offerings have been looking tired for years and the network has done little, aside from the introductions of Shane Warne and Michael Clarke, to infuse them with new life.

Stale? They are commentating on a test match. It's 90 overs. They can't be excited for 90 overs straight. I agree with the self-satisfied and blokey but also can make an argument for C10 is a big blokey as well. Shane Warne has been there since like the 00's on and off. He commentated on McGrath's hat trick.

The comments though aren't that bad except for a person being like all sports have commercials and milking money.
