Supercoach GRIM REAPER!!!!!
Ok so in light of how pissed off I am at blowing my last 2 trades to get Ablett in only to get 21 points off the bastard before getting injured for the season I have started to think about where I went wrong and how I can improve for next year.

Below is a rough team I am planning to try and start off with and a player list of players I am considering starting or bringing into my team thoughout the year.

I have also come up with Judd Magics 10 SC Commandments.....

Judd Magics possible starting 2016 team -

B - H.Shaw, R.Murphy, Simpson, Gibson, Scharenberg, rookie (rookie, rookie)

M - Ablett, Pendles, Fyfe, Rockcliff, Sloane, Selwood, Petracca, rookie (rookie, rookie. rookie)

R - S.Martin, Naitinui (rookie)

F - Gray, Martin, Goddard, Bennell, rookie, rookie (rookie, rookie)

Judd Magics players to consider -

Hodge
Malceski
McGovern
B.Smith
Laird
Langdon
Libba
Prestia
O'Meara
B.Crouch
D.Swallow
Watson
Dangerfield
Greene
Beams
Priddis
Jacobs
Goldstein
Delidio
Dahlhaus
Zorko
Wingard
Bartel

Judd Magics 10 SC commandments....

1. Start forward line with all mid/forwards
2. Go guns and rookies. NO MID PRICERS, especially up back.
3. Go for as many back/mids or defenders that play in the midfield as possible in the backline.
4. Don't pick Swan mids, they steal points off each other.
5. Don't pick Tom Mitchell if he is playing at Swans still. Longmire hates him.
6. Don't EVER pick Hibberd or Griffen!
7. Make sure to start with a cheap 3rd ruck or a ruck/forward.
8. Try not to trade till at least round 8 so I can then make 2 trades every week to my hearts content.
9. Give an under performing player at least 4 weeks before giving them the flick. They may come good after a slow start.
10. Once a player gets injured twice in a season don't trade them back in .ie. Sloane, Rockcliff.

Judd Magics new 2016 trading strategy -

* If I make 2-3 trades before round 8 then I will look at this list and pick 2 rounds where I CANNOT trade!

Round 8 - 2 trades
Round 9 - 2 trades
Round 10 - 2 trades
Round 11 - 2 trades
Round 12 - 2 trades
Round 13 - 2 trades
Round 14 - 2 trades
Round 15 - 2 trades
Round 16 - 2 trades
Round 17 - 2 trades
Round 18 - 2 trades
Round 19 - 2 trades
Round 20 - 2 trades
Round 21 - 2 trades
Round 22 - 2 trades

This is a good starting point I think. I will keep referring to this list throughout next season.

Really farked up picking so many mid pricers in the backline that didn't work out except for Higgins.

Also traded a couple of players out too early without giving them more time .ie. Newnes, Miller.

 Feel for ya buddy, heartbreaking. FWIW I have Ablett too.

I have never felt so down and out and heartbroken over 2 trades in my entire SC career I reckon.

I have made alot of lousy horrible trades in my life but those 2 even though they weren't horrible at the time Lonie > Downie via Read and Beams > Ablett hurt the most and will probably haunt me well until SC kicks off again next year.

Can only hope for Lambert and Steele to play out of their skins for the rest of the season now and I will use Ablett to loophole with them.

May aswell try and get my moneys worth out of that bald headed bastard in some way!:thumbsdown:

I'll add Laird to my list.

Still would like to see another season where he can back this season up before I even think about starting him though.
Do you think he will still be a defender next year? Would love to see how McGovern goes as a listed
SC defender but in real life will be swinging forward and kicking goals too. Oh and a preseason in the gym
will make him a beast. Defenders will be the line that most SC coaches will be working hard on over preseason

I think Laird is 50/50 with being a defender again next year, same with Hodge although I am expecting Hodge to only be a mid next year, hence why I am starting with Gibson instead at this stage.

McGovern is a good one that I hadn't thought about. With Brown and McKenzie back this will free him up a bit and he can then even play forward at times too like you suggested.

One to keep an eye on. I will add him to my list of players to consider. :thumbsu:

I might just go with the tried and trusted up back to start off with though. Shaw, Simpson, Murphy and Gibson have the runs on the board. :thumbsu:

Shit season, I have Smith as a D6 and have the money to upgrade but just haven't been able to due to carnage. 1 trade left after Abblet:cry:

Yep I have Smith at D6 too. :(

My second trading plan that I was considering doing if I hadn't of got Ablett in believe it or not was going to be Beams > Bartel via Gray to mids and Hamling > Kelly (Smith to D7)

heck I wish I could turn back time and lock those 2 trades in instead.:cry::cry::cry:

I cannot believe I started with the Clown Prince in lolmumba up back.

Such a farking idiot Judd Magic (smacks myself in the head 3 times) for picking this steaming pile of turd. :fire:

This is the lesson I learnt for this year. Don't pick speculative mid pricers up back. 9/10 times they don't work out. You'd have more chance of picking the correct lotto numbers. :rainbow:

Lesson I learnt last year was don't pick Key Position Forwards (Buddy, Roughead, Josh Kennedy types) and only go for mid/forwards. I don't have the tolerance for up and down yo yo players (Judd Magic has a low tolerance level and gets angry too easily)

My theory this year was to start with a stacked backline full of defenders, didn't work so well as I
picked Jaensch, Hurn and you guessed it Hibberd. I got Shaw right and Laird swapped for Jaensch is a win for me this year. It would be nice if they took SC defenders out of the game completely, liked the game better when you could stack your team with mids. Oh well you live and learn.

I think the number 1 rule for defenders next year is this -

*Pick defenders that actually play in the midfield like Picken and Yeo this year for example. Or pick players that their team goes through all the time in taking the ball out of the backline such as R.Murphy and Simpson.

Really have to remember that for next season....

Not trading until round 8 is a too restrictive. These are the money making rounds when you need to get your cash cows right and doing a few trades here and there to get the right bubble boys is essential.

Yeah true.

Hopefully I nail my starting rookiees though.

If I do trade before round 8 though then I will refer to the Judd Magic 2016 trading strategy tip - * If I make 2-3 trades before round 8 then I will look at this list and pick 2 rounds where I CANNOT trade!

I pretty much nailed my starting rookies this season but traded Miller to Van Berlo after round 2 as I thought Miller looked like a dud.

Refer to Judd Magics SC 10 Commandments rule 9 (9. Give an under performing player at least 4 weeks before giving them the flick. They may come good after a slow start.)

On my list of must have due to injury discounts:
OMeara, Prestia, Petracca, Libba, D Swallow, GAJ, Crouch, Watson, Mummy

On my list of seriously consider due to injury discounts:
Jaensch, Keefee (if he comes back), Trengrove, Tunbridge

Rocky will be good value too regardless.

Looking at that list my MIDs are done once you throw in two rookies :)

Until first ball is bounced in NAB Challenge and all goes out the window.
Actually it's normally selection night Round 1.

I am still dumbfounded Steele didn't debut until halfway through the year. He was my Round 1 smokey, along with MightyMark

Nah.

People put in work with a trial team. Ball bounces. Team instantly starts changing.

Steele would of been extra handy earlier on!

I like NAB Cup / Challenge. Helps suckers pick fools gold like Gibson and Lumumba, oops!

Which players do people think will get position changes?
Matthew Boyd - gains DEF DPP
Ryan Griffen - gains DEF DPP
Isaac Heeney - gains FWD DPP
Liam Picken - loses DEF DPP
Luke Hodge - loses DEF DPP
Toby Greene - gains FWD DPP
Robbie Tarrant - FWD to DEF
Kurt Tippett - gains RUCK DPP

Then others like Martin, Swan, Bont could lose their FWD DPP. There will be a lot of others who will changes position, these are just ones off the top of my head.

Ryan Griffen could become DEF/MID.

By the way; Rule 2 excludes Lairrrrrrrrrrdy so I'm not following that. GOAUS!
Really disagree with rule 2, all the mid pricers were the better options to start with this year.

Docherty, Laird, Ibbotson, Roberton, Mcdonald, Picken Etc

I stand by my theory never ever spend top dollar on ONE player in the defence at the start of each year. Top price Defenders always drop in value.
