With a bit of Hindsight it's easy to say it would have been worth it but at the time I don't think Rafa would have had a shit show of getting 5 million to spend on a 16 year old.

Even if Rafa had the 5m to spend, there's no way he'd spend it on 15-16 year old player.

He likes the squad players that can fill gaps, there's no way he'd make such a big outlay on potential only.

you guys are right, and thats where our problem lies, rafa wont spend a decent amount on a bright young prospect, and we dont have the funds to spend money on an established star, so we are stuck with getting players that are above average but not quite in the top level of players.

we could have had aguero right now if rafa would spend significant amounts on young guys.

Why does a team like Liverpool who are arguably one of the biggest sides in the world not have enough money to spend?

Looks like Itanje's signed his death warrant at Anfield

Liverpool goalkeeper Charles Itandje looks set to be on his way out of Anfield after claims he behaved offensively during Wednesday's Hillsborough memorial service.
The Reds' number two goalkeeper was reportedly caught by television cameras laughing during the service to mark the 20th anniversary of the Hillsborough, which saw 96 Liverpool supporters lose their lives.

Aaccording to the Liverpool Echo, supporters have complained about Itandje’s behaviour on internet message boards, with the club now set to take disciplinary action against the 26-year-old after studying video footage.

Supporters claim Itandje was seen laughing, joking and simulating dance moves during the "Tragedy" song sung at the service.

The entire first team, reserve and youth team squads attended the service.

The former Lens player is now unlikely to play for the club again, with manager Rafael Benitez said to be disgusted by the goalkeeper's behaviour.

Itandje joined Liverpool on a free transfer in the summer of 2007, but has only featured in seven first-team games.

His last appearance was in last season’s FA Cup defeat by Barnsley.

Disgraceful if true

Oh and Fergie continues to crack up

Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has been blasted by Blackburn Rovers boss Sam Allardyce and Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson for apparently lacking respect.

Allardyce says he is struggling to put aside last Saturday's 4-0 defeat to the Reds at Anfield because of Benitez's reaction when Fernando Torres put them two goals ahead.

"It's not out of our system for two reasons. One is the disappointment at the way the team performed. I know we had a lot of injuries on the day, but I still felt that we should have gone there and done better than we did," Alladyce told Sky Sports.

"And two, is the unfortunate gestures from Rafa Benitez after the second goal. I wanted to clarify his gestures. I think you'll see them as pretty dismissive to me and to Blackburn Rovers' team as a whole.

"I think they are disrespectful and quite humiliating. I waited to have a word with Rafa Benitez in his room after the game but as usual, and unfortunately, he didn't turn up.

"I was hugely disappointed by those gestures and having re-looked at them this week I think I'm right and I think everyone will see why I'm complaining."

United boss Alex Ferguson is lending his support to Allardyce's claim, insisting that this is not the first time Benitez has shown insolence.

The Scot has cited the Spaniard's description of Merseyside rivals Everton as a small club in the past as evidence that his alleged contempt towards the Blackburn boss was not an isolated incident.

"Everton are a big club, not a small one which Benitez arrogantly said," Ferguson remarked.

"But arrogance is one thing. You cannot forgive contempt, which is what he showed Sam Allardyce last weekend.

"When Liverpool scored their second goal he signalled as if the game was finished. I do not think Sam deserved that.

"Sam has worked so hard for the LMA (League Managers' Association) and he's had a weakened team. I just thought it showed contempt.

"In my experience no Liverpool manager has ever done that. It was beyond the pale."

Maybe he gestured like that because you publically called him a whinger before the game you big fat twat Sam

If the article is correct, Itanje can go to ****ing hell. Lowest of lows. Ship him off to some **** hole and he can rot there for all I care.

Hahaha Big Sam! Hahaha. Now who is the whinger!

Seems like Itanje isn't the only footballer to have shown disrespect during a clubs memorial event, can't say I'm surprised who it is either

It is January 9, 2008, and in an upstairs room at Manchester United's training ground five elderly men in smart blazers are struggling with their emotions in front of a hushed audience. It is the club's media day building up to the 50th anniversary of the Munich air disaster and Sir Bobby Charlton's polite smile does not hide the fact he is trembling as he takes his seat. Bill Foulkes is straight-backed and dignified but only a couple of questions have been asked before the tears appear in his eyes and he reaches for a glass of water.

In an adjacent room Wayne Rooney has agreed to offer a modern-day perspective of that seminal day when 23 people, including eight members of Sir Matt Busby's team, were killed in the wreckage of the burnt-out BEA Elizabethan. It is not his specialist subject but he handles the occasion with dignity and more eloquence than some people might imagine. But then Cristiano Ronaldo comes through the double doors and the mood is broken.

He is wearing a white suit jacket and ripped jeans, looking every bit the boy-band hunk, but it is very obvious he is in a bad mood. He begins by berating Karen Shotbolt, the club's press officer, because he is waiting for Rooney and the event has over-run. He is banging his watch with his hand, flapping his arms and gesturing in the way that Portuguese footballers usually reserve for fussy referees and, at first, he is so animated it appears as if it might be a wind-up.

When he flounces back through the doors, cursing loudly, it is very obvious he is being deadly serious. Rooney is professional enough to carry on with his tribute but the attention is no longer exclusively on him. Thirty seconds later Ronaldo appears again, first rapping his forefinger against the glass in the door, then opening it by a fraction and starting to whistle at Rooney in the way that a farmer beckons his sheepdog.

It was such an unpleasant scene the journalists decided not to write about it because we had been invited to the training ground to cover a far more important subject and, when you have sat with men as noble as Charlton, Foulkes, Albert Scanlon, Harry Gregg and Kenny Morgans and seen the hurt in their eyes, it felt incongruous to veer off-track. But coming away from Carrington that day it was difficult not to wonder what had become of the pimply teenager with the braces on his teeth who had been photographed, in his first few weeks as a United player, holding hands with his mother, Dolores, as they crossed a busy Manchester street.

Note the reaction on Plesis' face next to him as Itanje tried to annoy him and make him laugh, Plessis doesn't want to have a bar of it

Yet he stays on his feet when need be and makes your defenders look pissweak and in serious need of iron pumping.

He gets involved more than Torres. Chelsea feed the ball to him whenever possible and they play through him - he's their attacking outlet.

Torres is a completely different type of striker and most times won't touch the ball near as much as Drogba does.

Stays on his feet when need be? Drogba is a cheat. He is a handful and a good player too, but he is a cheat. He goes down at the slightest of contact and creates dangerous free kicks for his team by diving around the place and rolling around like a little girl.

Drogba is a very good player. He is also a cheat.

Torres shits on Drogba. Torres is not a cheat.

End of story.

I like Rafa's gesture. A bit of confidence from him. It would be an issue if he made that gesture and then Blackburn came back to draw 2-2 or win 2-3. But they didnt, we went on to win 4-0.

So Rafa was right :D

Itandje was never going to play again for us anyway.

Not that it excuses anything, he can **** right off for all I care, but I'm guessing a lot of people didn't even know he was still at the club.

He hasn't been in any matchday squads this season and he wont be, if Reina has missed, Diego plays and Reina is either on the bench or it's Martin Hansen.

On another note, I thought it was awesome that Rafa showed some emotion for a change. Who knows what went on pre-game? Maybe the boys vowed to put in a top performance for the 96 and Rafa was confident they would? When Nando majestically rose up and headed home the second, he couldn't hide his joy?

**** off Allardyce, **** off Slur Alex.

Liverpool are on the charge.

KING KENNY RETURNS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

King Kenny in Benitez talks

Apr 18 2009 by Andy Kelly, Liverpool Echo

KENNY Dalglish is set for a sensational return to Liverpool Football Club.
Reds boss Rafa Benitez wants his legendary predecessor as a key new part of his backroom staff and moves are already afoot to create a position for Dalglish.

Benitez has raised the matter with American club owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett and would like to tie up a deal at the earliest possible opportunity.

The ECHO understands preliminary talks have already taken place between Benitez and Dalglish and although nothing has been finalised the discussions are believed to have gone well.

Benitez would like to give Dalglish a roving role which would see the 58-year-old divide his time between the Academy in Kirkby, Melwood and Anfield but with a particular emphasis on an advisorial role on youth development.

The Liverpool manager recently ordered a review of the Academy which is being headed up by former chief scout Frank McParland as he seeks to ensure more young players of potential first team standard are produced than is currently the case.

Should Dalglish be recruited it would provide a shot in the arm for the Academy which has come in for plenty of criticism in recent years.
Dalglish has not been employed in a senior football role since leaving his position as director of football at Celtic in July 2000.

The Kop hero has been linked with several managerial jobs since then but his strong links with Merseyside and his charity work on behalf of his wife’s Marina Dalglish Appeal have meant he has not been enticed into taking employment at any of the clubs which have shown an interest in acquiring his services.

But the lure of Liverpool would be strong for Dalglish who served the club as both player and manager from 1977 until 1991.

When he quit Anfield in February 1991 saying he needed to take a break from football the shockwaves reverberated throughout the sport with Liverpool fans being distraught at the loss of the man they refer to as “King Kenny”.

He later admitted his regret that he was not offered a return to Liverpool in the immediate aftermath of his sudden departure but 18 years later he could now finally be given the opportunity to reignite his love affair with the club he joined from Celtic.

It is now up to Hicks and Gillett to approve the proposed move and should this happen it would require only the agreement of personal terms for Dalglish to complete a sensational return to Anfield.

oh jod you're simpler than a one coloured rubik's cube.

if you could just for one comprehend (or decipher if you like) something for its meaning instead of going off on one of your pathetic, no idea, deluded, fan boy tangents then you might reflect a knowing individual for a short time. ephemeral but nonetheless something for you to stick up on the fridge.

King Kenny to return and Sir Alex pooing his pants about liverpool and resorting to childish name calling. Does it get any better than this?:D

If we somehow manage to win the title it will be an amazing achievment considering how many games Gerrard and Torres have missed this year.

Itandje is a black man and a foreigner who was only a very small boy when Hillsborough happened. Hence it's probably hard for him to feel quite the same empathy for the victims and their families as it would many other people at the memorial. Still, his behaviour was clearly unacceptable and Damien Plessis shows him exactly how he should have behaved.
