Agger seemed to be closest to him so not sure if it was him

Yay.

Even though this season has been a shocker, at least we have been able to put one over both Everton and Man United.

Said the same thing last night,as woeful as we are, we are unbeaten against true filth so far :)

But geez, didn't that game really highloght just how badly we are travelling at present? Is finishing outside top 4 again, going to cost Rafa? He got lucky last time in changing the rules for us to get us into CL. OBviously that won't happen this season if/when we finish outside the top 4

jod, good analysis. :thumbsu: It was a mediocre performance by Liverpool in a pretty crappy game. We won, but we didn't deserve to. Still, I guess that evens up a bit the times this season when we've deserved to win but have dropped points. Everton have only themselves to blame for losing.

Our defence from balls in from narrow areas like the free kick Heitinga played that Cahill should've scored from, is genuinely terrible.

The best way to deal with those balls is lots of height in your defence, and a confident goalkeeper to come and punch/collect. As good as Reina is - you wouldn't say it's a strength of his - and as awesome as Dagger is, he's not overly tall.

Carragher is a midget for a centre half, and Insua is just a midget. We've got a very small team. It's very hard to defend set pieces - especially against Everton who thrive on hoofing the ball and making a physical contest of it.

Very true, we miss Super Sami back there. Torres is handy when he plays to go back and help out because he is so good in the air. What a double save from Reina though, he is absolute top class.

Alright boys, considering Chelsea are running away with the league and we have no shot of winning it, what do we want to gain from this season? In the end it could turn out to be a good season, if we can get it together. The UEFA cup is something we should look at winning, we still have a shot at the FA Cup and obviously finishing top 4 is imperitive.

If Utd win **** all and we win the UEFA cup or the FA Cup and finish top 4 id be happy with the season after such a disappointing start.

According to the Liverpool website it is 50 years to the day since the great Bill Shankly became manager.

How I wish another Shankly would arrive to dig us out of the doldrums.

That's why the form of Skrtel is such a worry, because he is a big tall bloke with a lot of presence in the box.

Just thinking of our best team, that is with Agger and Skrtel in full fitness and in good form, then those 2 and Torres would be the only players over 190cm.

All in all, a derby win! Get the **** in, beat those blue shite in there own backyard! Relegation fight is on for that lot. Love it.

Do people here actually want them to be relegated though? The derby is one of the games I most look forward to watching every season. Obviously I'd probably feel differently if I lived in a city full of 'blueshites' that I could give crap to if they went down.

On the other hand it's one of my life's ambitions to live long enough to see the Mancs get relegated. Unfortunately I'd have to survive a nuclear holocaust first for that to even have a slim chance of happening.

It's happened in my lifetime (okay I was only two at the time, but still...)

Dagger, a bit of perspective on Shankly. When he took over you were a very, very long way from fifth in the league and runners up the previous season. You'd escaped relegation to the THIRD division by the skin of your teeth. Them's proper doldrums.

I cant recall the exact year but I think before Ferguson won his first title there, there was a year where they were at least finished close-ish to the drop zone.

That is true, we are nowhere near as bad now as we were back then.

Just makes his acheivements all the more remarkable.

Yes! :D

I could easily do without a couple of derbies for a season to see that shower in the 2nd tier!

Skrtel has no presence. He might be one of our taller players, but for a relatively tall centre-half he's disgraceful in the air.

Agreed with bus24 on Skrtel, from what I've seen of Liverpool this season (yes he's been out of form) but he hasn't been dominant in the air (even in the games he's played relatively well in).

I too would love to see Everton get relegated after Cahill's equaliser last season at Anfield was one of the games that saw us lose the title.

If they don't, then beating them twice will be nice.

Damn right I want them relegated. It would be hilarious. Im sure they would come straight back up, but just for one season it would be great to stick the boot in :D

They wont get relegated though, they are a good side, plenty of good players.
