I don't want to look too far ahead but I wonder what the team would look like if we rotated heavily in the FA cup.

I'd expect guys like Mignolet, Milner, Clyne, Keita, Lallana, Sturridge and Origi would play. Possibly Fabinho at CB and maybe fill in the rest with any of Camacho, Jones and 1 of Hoever/Johnston/Masterson at CB.

In the 20 matches so far, Jurgen has put out 11 different midfield combinations because of the strength and depth of our midfield this year. The benefits of this can't be overstated i think.
Fatigue management/injury management. We look fresher don't we.
Increased competition for places leading to improved performances. (Wini being Exhibit A )

Notwithstanding our great defence, we are so much better defending as a team and the midfield has contributed greatly to that.
I would imagine bedding in the 4-2-3-1 system (still the occasional 4-3-3 thrown in) would take a while to get used to,but we have seen this system develop over the past few months. Hooray, Bobby had a really good game, he seemed to be the one most affected by the change, although he NEVER stopped trying, pressing running during this time.

So, Jurgen in deciding over the summer to change the system ,realized opposition teams would try to develop strategies to deal with our fast breaking counter attacking style from last season and has addressed our defensive frailties.
And here we are, top of the table. Good times.
PS. One game at a time.

Bobby taking the piss.

Gini was sensational today, can't say I've seen many in our strip over the years who can protect the ball as well as him, must have some serious glutes. We have some serious no fuss players in this squad. Gini, Robbo, Milner, Henderson, Clyne, Virgil, Shaq all have a bit of that yesteryear toughness about them.

That was fun, wasn't it?

In the first half, Aubameyang had 7 touches and 4 were kickoffs after we scored. Really shows how little they threatened us.

Edit: Make that 10 passes with 6 of those being kickoffs.

Pep changed Man City's tactics by taking a more cautious approach when they played us at home. How will Pep approach the upcoming game?

He has to go for it, he's got no choice. Their injuries piled up again, no KDB and Fernandinho is 50/50.

Will think about the title after that game, biggest game for ages

No one outside the club talks about Gini but he's been our best midfielder in the best performing midfield in the league

City says it's a "knock", won't be playing the Soton game

All our front 3 has scored a hat trick for the club, how often has that happened? Has to go back to 87/88 right? These guys are going down in folklore, fans will still rave about them decades from now

Only if we win something with this group Id say.

Hmmm. If Fernandinho is out that will make Pep sweat tactically.
Regarding Gini , bet there are a lot of LFC fans eating humble pie as well.
