Then we flog our players again and hope they stay fit.
This summer is going to be so interesting. Covid has come at a poor time for us to capitalise on being champions. I think if their was no Covid, we would have signed Werner and we could be in play for other top players like Havertz etc.
As it is, it looks like we wont be signing anyone. But having said that Lallana is definitely leaving and Lovren looks like he might be shipped out too. Considering how injury prone Matip is and having no real 4th option in the centre of defence we surely have to dip into the market.
I have the feeling that we wont though.
Lovren will be replaced by Fabinho as that 4th choice CB. Lallana will be replaced by Curtis Jones and Shaq will be replaced by Harvey Elliot.

I don't want to sound like a broken record, but but but...the owners. Refer to any of my earlier comments in the past few days. My gut feel is that at some point in our title defence, we will be playing on fumes because Klopp goes with the same front 3, same keeper, same full backs, if Gomez is fit the same centre backs, with rotation for one or two in the midfield, depending on who is fit, but usually that is Wijnaldum, Forb and Hendo. Because he has no ******* choice because our owners don't want to pay big dollars (probably any dollars) for quality players. But they're ******* happy to pose with the Champions League trophy and no doubt the prem trophy after that is presented. Pretty disgusted with them at this point actually, the way they just let Werner slip by. You buy a big premier league club which earns enough to satisfy FFP rules and you don't fork out a ******* cent. Watch this space, at some point in the next season, we will hit the wall, because we have not improved from our position of strength in 2 summer windows, yet our biggest challengers either have or will. If I am right, and I hope I'm not, the owners can GGF'd.
Where did you get that Werner info from?Werner wanted Salah's number plus assurances of a starting position. Money wasn't the only reason he wasn't signed. Happy to back Jurg on this one. Next season Neco Williams & Curtis Jones will become full time members of the senior squad. Next season we really only need a Robertson understudy plus a new CB to replace Lovren that can push Gomez/Matip. We will make more than enough from incoming transfers to cover this with Grujic & Wilson almost definietly being sold, Awonyi being sold and another Coutinho payment due from Barca should they be unable to offload him for next season. We are in great shape and the ownership is doing a fantastic job.
We will spend big in summer 2021 window. Our balance sheet will be looking pretty healthy even post covid.
So who is replacing Lovren? Could Fabinho play CB a bit more when needed and 1 of Hendo/Gini go to CDM and then 1 of Keita/Ox go in midfield?
Maybe Hoever could develop a bit more and be a CB/RB in the Gomez mould. Or lastly, we may actually buy someone.
Our biggest problem is that when Matip is out injured our defence is too loose against the good sides. It's interesting point Matip as good as he is and as much as I love him, is just so bloody injury prone!! So chances are our 4th choice CB will end up being our 3rd choice for chunks of the season and end up playing quite a bit of football. I don't mind the idea of Hoever stepping in and playing more first eam football, but can we trust him playing what will most likely end up being over 10 games in Europe and the Premier league? Van den Berg is another one, but again he's very young. I'd say we may look for a cheap option in the Klavan mold and if we can't find one that satisfies Klopp it'll be a combo of Fab and the young guys.
Im disappointed about the CAS ruling just to see what would have happened. Would have been super interesting to see which players might have looked for an exit, which ones stayed loyal etc..
It's good news for us though. No Europe for City means fit and rested to push for the league. This means their fixture list will be just as busy as ours which gives us a better chance to retain the title so I'm all for it.
I mean we can hope but Leicester are in trouble considering their fixture list. Would be funny though if United had to play in Europa League again. I mean that's been the norm for them anyways since SAF retired.and...if Chelsea and Leicester can hold firm, Utd miss UCL #silverlinings...

The Court of Arbitration for Sport has found that Manchester City FC did NOT disguise equity funding as sponsorship contributions but DID fail to cooperate with the Uefa authorities.
As a result, the decision to exclude participation in Uefa club contributions is lifted, with the fine maintained but reduced to €10m.
Leicester were 4 points off us, since we destroyed them on Boxing Day, they have been in relegation form or some sh*t
