Who needs Optus EPL extortion when you can have minute by minute commentary from RossFC this season :)
Well for that to happen I'd need Optus EPL lmao.
Scratch that. Had no idea until now that my dad is on an optus plan. So I told him that we could get the EPL for free the first season and we've got it now.

Better second friendly, or at least better end product. My rating of each player.

FIRST HALF

Karius - 6 - had nothing to do, one poor touch ending up putting Matip under pressure.

Flanagan - 6 - not really troubled defensively, didnt add much going forward.

Matip - 7 - smooth on the ball, turned one opponent who was closing him down in a dangerous area with ease. Smooth customer.

Lovren - 7 - calm and collected. Never really troubled.

Moreno - 8 - excellent getting forward, linked really well with Mane and was often used on the overlap. Shouldnt take free kicks and defensively was caught out of position a few times as usual. So 8 for his attacking game, maybe a 7 for his defensive work.

Stewart - 5 - barely knew he was on the pitch. Always looked to go backwards or sideways which was disappointing, he was far better a few days ago.

Grujic - 9 - best on in the first half. Bowled people over time and time again, fairly I might add. Used his size ominously. Tidy on the ball, won a penalty, hit the post, forced a very good save on one shot, a cheeky lobbed through ball created a chance and also scored the only goal of the first half. Couldnt ask much more from him on debut. Very impressive.

Alexander-Arnold - 6 - tidy in possession. Very quick and linked pretty well with Mane and Moreno but never quite produced real quality.

Markovic - 7 - quiet as Liverpool looked to attack far more down Mane' side. But when on the ball again showed his close control and dribbling ability, pretty classy.

Mane - 8 - super quick, was able to get behind the defense time and time again to create scoring opportunities. Linked really well with Moreno down the left and was a constant menace.

Ings - 6 - ran hard as usual but took one of the poorest penalties you will see. Got on the end of one chance that was blocked and went wide but couldnt really find his way into the game.

SECOND HALF

Bogdan - 6 - had less to go that Karius. Made one routine stop IIRC.

Randall - 7 - impressive down the right again, always an outlet and looked to attack and create yet was never seemingly out of position. Flanno might find himself with some competition for that back up RB slot.

Wisdom - 7 - never troubled, made one good intervetion when it looked like Fleetwood might be through. He's a big lad.

Ilori - 6 - barely touched it, was never troubled as we dominated possession.

B.Smith - 6 - was ok, offered an outlet but wasnt able to get any quality final balls into the box. Future might lie away from Anfield.

Lucas - 8 - dominated the middle of the park, which you expect from someone so good and experienced against modest opposition. Got forward and finished nicely from a cross from Kent I think. Seemed very unhappy after scoring and was seemingly swearing over and over again if my lip reading talents are up to scratch. Apparently had a heated conversation with Klopp on the sideline before the goal.

Brannagan - 7 - classy on the ball, never made a mistake and was always dangerous and intelligent with his passing and movement coming forward. Linked really well with Kent.

Ejaria - 6 - came back to earth a little after been very good a few days ago. Couldnt seem to get involved and often dropped very deep to be able to get on the ball. Made one nice through ball to Woodburn which created the chance for Firmino to score.

Woodburn - 7 - just 16 years old. Scored a goal, created another with a good run forward. Was bright on the ball, always had his head up. Could have a future with us.

Kent - 8 - always positive, always running at defenders and trying to beat a man and getting into dangerous areas. Had two assists I believe and linked well with Brannagan. At 19 it's now or never for him to make his breakthrough.

Firmino - 8 - the samurai haired Brazilian was quiet early but slowly worked his way into it. Always chasing and tackling and then got on the end of two goals with real poachers efforts. He's quality.

Stewart - 5 - barely knew he was on the pitch. Always looked to go backwards or sideways which was disappointing, he was far better a few days ago.
Stewart needs to pull his finger out now since Grujic massively impressed and Brannagan (who is not overage like Stewart) is going fine as well.

May end up getting loaned or sold.

He's far down the pecking order in central midfield you would imagine. Lucas, Allen, Milner, Henderson, Can, Grujic and perhaps even Brannagan are in front of him. He's a decent little player though, he was average last night but every time he played late last season, he looked the part.

Obviously not Liverpool quality though and at his age should look to move on and find more his level, lower PL sides or Championship sides where he would start games.

Said it for a while but I look forward to watching Grujic more, he can surprise this season. He can pass, he can shoot, he has size and isn't shy to use it. He just needs to get on the Origi bulking program and he could be our Alli
Looks very promising. Wouldn't mind seeing him next to Can in a friendly when all the players doing international duty come back. (I'm assuming it's at the end of the month?)

Ya, very excited by his physical presence. I'm looking forward to that alone in our team. Shankly changed our colours to all red to intimidate opponents. Klopp is building a team of big arsed warriors to compliment that.

Nek signing that fat guy from Wimbledon FC?

That'd be right, I stay up the other night to catch the 1-niller but miss the 5-0 game.
