Adam and 2-3m for Dempsey is good for us. I like Adam but he's too slow and we aren't losing too much at the end of the day, we can cover it easily. Shelvey was great as the 'dictator' in the middle. He said post-match he likes that role. I bloody hope he plays a lot of games this season or at least gets loaned to West Ham or somewhere in the Prem that'd be nice.

Cooldude mentioned like many have how Suarez is best out wide interchanging with the other attackers - does this mean big Andy can solidify himself as the focal point? Both Suarez and Carroll can play up top initially and receive and distribute the ball with ease IMO. I think Carroll can even play this style and run and be difficult to mark - isn't he apparently one of the quickest at the club? With Carroll, Suarez and Borini we have everything on paper - the big man, the creator and the fox in the box.
While i commend your allegiance to AC, he simply isnt in BR's plans and wont feature much more than a bench player and playing in cups and EL. The front three looks likely to be Suarez, Borini, Downing/Cole. I think if we dont bring in another wide player, BR could be pushing all his chips into the Raheem Sterling pot.

Pre season may have changed things but I'm fairly sure Rogers has said that Sterling isn't ready for the premier league yet and a loan move is likely.

Which seems like the sensible thing but the rate we are shipping out wide players and bringing in no replacements, he is getting pushed to the front of the queue simply because he is the only wide player left at the club. After Downing, it's pretty much Sterling?? Kuyt, Bellamy and Maxi are all gone. Cole I guess can play wide in a 4-3-3, if we loaned out Sterling now, we are leaving our wide options at almost zero.

Clearly we'll still sign players in those positions though which is good. I don't believe Downing or Cole are good options at all, Downing a good squad player but we need to sign a starting attacker clearly. Someone quicker than Downing who will probably be younger and out of left field.

Sahin and Dempsey (prefer Walcott) in Cole and Adam out

I think BR rates Cole and has him in his plans. A technical player, intelligent player. But he wont give you pace out wide. Downing is actually quite quick but so predictable and unable to beat defenders with tricks. He is also infuriatingly for whatever reason always played wide right instead of wide left. Which means he cuts in time and time again.

Im serious when I say this. Right now at the club, Sterling is our best winger. Has pace, has tricks, has confidence, runs at defences. He is so raw though. Yet to understand his true ability, is a liability with tracking back and positioning and floats in and out of games. Give him a couple of years and he will be a force to reckoned with. So outside of Sterling which is too early, we have the one dimensional Downing and maybe Cole as wide options in a 4-3-3.

We need to sign some players, pronto.

A bit of fun while we pass the time lads. Question time.

Hypothetical.

Messi now plays for Liverpool. We just signed him today. Great for the club. Best 11 is now...

Reina
Johnson Skrtel Agger Enrique
Gerrard Lucas Allen
Suarez Borini Messi

Two part question. How do you think Liverpool would go in the coming season with Messi on board? Second question, how good is Messi and can he turn around the fortunes of our club. Just one bloke. Is he THAT good?

Discuss.

You serious?
The best player to have ever played the game, he would make all our players play at a higher level.
We would win the league.

And yes he is really that good.

look at this way, how good would Barca be without him?

I'm not worried. The transfer window isn't shut yet and I guarantee we will be bringing in quality wide players before 31st August. If the ITK's I've been following (who've been spot on with their information the last few weeks & well ahead of the major news websites) continue their good form, expect to see 2 (& maybe 3) of Dempsey, Tello, Walcott, A. Johnson or Ramirez (he's looking less likely, our offer for him still stands but is well below Bologna's valuation - Inter are expected to outbid us) with Afellay & Sahin a strong possibility of coming here on loan (Liverpool currently have representatives in Spain working on those deals, wouldn't surprise me given Rodgers has been regularly in contact with Mourinho since he left Chelsea if that is used as leverage in the Sahin deal).

Rumours going round that Liverpool have this morning rejected Man City's FINAL bid of £23million for Daniel Agger

Normally we'd bite their hands off for that, considering Agger's injury prone, but we are in no position to sell our best players whosoever, particularly when someone like Carra's the reserve *shudders*

Agger's still the key to our season, *if* he stays fit

I think Moses would've been an ideal target. With Suarez playing on one side with his skills and trickery, I reckon on the other wing would be great if we have a guy that can outright sprint and take any defender on just for something different and making us unpredictable in attack. So I would love if we tried signing one of Adam Johnson or Theo Walcott.

"The team in full is: Reina, Kelly, Enrique, Carragher, Coates, Lucas, Shelvey, Gerrard, Downing, Sterling, Suarez. Subs: Jones, Henderson, Carroll, Adam, Robinson, Spearing." - LFC.tv

Looking forward to watching Sterling.

Shelvey been pushed out to the right, here's the lineup after the 5 halftime substitutions:

---------Reina------------
Kelly-Coates-Carra-Robinson
--------Spearing----------
---Henderson--Adam------
Shelvey--Carroll----Sterling

Carroll with a clever turn and buries it from outside the area. He's been good since he came on, looks sharp and is working hard.
