Great result but I didnt like Slot's subs.
Why take off Endo on the hour when he needs minutes, was playing well, pretty steady, he gassed him up before the game saying what a great attitude he has had despite not playing and that he will start the game. Then give him the full 90. Plus we needed to rest guys like Macca etc who play every game.
And then I hated the Quansah sub? The second goal wasnt his fault, just an unlucky deflection. Taking him off with 5 mins to go will destroy his confidence. Didnt like that.
Outside of that, Gakpo and Diaz did well, especially Gakpo, they are in quite the battle for the LW spot. Really good result away from home against tough opposition and we move onto the QFs where we have gotten a favourable draw too.

Gakpo definitely earns a start. Throwing it out there but to change things up maybe Gakpo at CF and Diaz at LW. Gakpo is actually really good at that pressing false 9 role.
Interesting with Robbo playing this morning. Kostas must be starting the league game.
This team keeps finding ways to win, which is a skill. We'll see if it lasts the whole season.

We need another midfielder desperately.
Imagine how cooked we would be if Mac & Grav were both out. Things are good at the moment but come winter, fixture pile up & fatigue and things could change quickly for the worse.
If we're in a strong position to contend for trophies come January then we have to dip into the market, for once we need to be proactive rather than FSG doing their usual treading water bullshit

Gakpo has shown time and again he is ineffective in the CF role. It has to basically be LW or nothing for him.

I wouldn't have minded losing this morning to give the team a needed breather. It's also going to be hard to beat Brighton twice in a row.

We should 100% smash Brighton this weekend.
Wouldn't underestimate Brighton or Villa, they've troubled us the past few seasons, we have to beat them both to set up the City home game right after the break though

This will be a problem considering how tiny our squad is.
Last season we had a total of 35 players make an appearance for Liverpool. This season so far we have had 25 players make an appearance. That's 10 extra bodies and you cant say the season has been shorter, cos it's usually the early rounds of the League Cup that blow out the amount of players making appearance for the season cos you get a lot of kids come in and fill in.
But we havent done that at all. We wont see kids coming in to help us in the PL and CL games. So 25 might just be the amount we're gonna have this season.
These guys all played for us last season, Clark, Danns, Bajcetic, Doak, McConnell, Chambers, Gordon, Scanlon, Beck, not to mention that Joel Matip left at the end of last season too.
There are 10 blokes there.
Matip is retired. Chambers, Gordon, Beck, Scanlon, Bajcetic, Doak, Ramsey, Phillips and Koumas are all out on loan.
So it's really only maybe McConnell and Danns who could help us this season who are yet to play, which would push our number of players making appearances to 27. And to be honest, if those two havent played already, I cant see them playing further down the line.
And the only bloke we brought in was Chiesa who is a sick note.
We are gonna get massively stretched. Look at last night for an example, we had to start first team players like Robbo, Gakpo, Diaz and Szo and we even brought on Salah, Mac, Ibou and Nunez. We really shouldnt be doing that in the League Cup.
The burn out will come I reckon. Just after Christmas.

It is at Anfield though, I would assume Brighton have an awful record there.
