I do find it funny how most teams move their best striker as far away from Virgil as possible only to run into Konate who's a beast.

I didnt think it would go this well at all. Particularly when we brought in basically nobody in the summer.
16 games under Slot now in the League, League Cup and the Champions League and we've gone...
14-1-1.
That's incredible to be fair. With the only blemishes on the record a pretty good draw away from home against Arsenal and a shock loss at home to Forest.
Apparently we had an easy run of fixtures to start the season and this epically difficult run was to be the making of us.

Villa, Madrid and City will still be tough games for sure. But we've negotiated this tough period almost flawlessly so far.

A Rodri sized slump. They wont go away though, they will find a way, they always do.
I have a theory on this.
Most new high profile managers bring in new players who they like or have collected.
I think part of the reason the transition has been so effective is Slot decided "these players are really good, let's back them in to play in my system before I look elsewhere" and that is the reason they've have bought in and are doing so well. So far it's a fantastic zag to a Ten Hag style zig (all ETH did was bring in former Ajax players).
Slot obviously has strong views on training and strategy: no manager can get to this level without that. But other than that, he's avoided upheaval for its own sake and trusted players who have proven track records, and he's being rewarded for it.

We have to pull far enough away that when they eventually do find their mojo again we're too far out of sight. I'm not so sure they'll be able to end the season in classic City fashion without Rodri though.
Bundesliga feels weak this season, we've played two of their top 4, one of them their reigning champs and they feel underwhelming. Then you have Bayern being shit in CL then actually leading the league still

Our squad is so thin in midfield. Great results now, let's see what happens in winter with a fixture pile up and multiple injuries in midfield.
Also, you win nothing in start of Nov, things can change quickly, we'll see how we do come Feb or whether we work in the transfer market, but I'm still happy for CL qualification this season
Not without Rodri they won't - the stats don't lie.
It is mental how many games Liverpool are winning. Liverpool have lost one and drawn one this season - and it is November. It is crazy.

Spot on.
Winning a title with a single purchase of Chiesa for 10m would be certainly against the odds.
Right now we are in good form and grinding out results. The real litmus test will be when we have a few poor results, fixture pile up and 2-3 key outs all at the same time. That's coming, if we can navigate it that would be huge.
I'm concerned about a run deep into the League Cup. We'd have FA Cup, League Cup & CL all to deal with in Jan.

The hard part for Slot is when it comes time replacing Mo/Virg/Trent/Robbo/Ali. All are in their 30s(Trent aside) and all are stalwarts from Jurg's generation.
With Mo & Virg that will be up to him to replace them whether it is in 2025 or 2027 ( if they extend for 2 more seasons).
Replacing Trent will be more difficult if we can't get a new deal over the line. Slot may have to rejig his entire strategy as very few can offer what Trent does at RB in terms of creativity, playmaking and / or delivery from wide areas.
Allison seems to already have a successor in place if he moves on in 2027.
Robbo is the other issue. I suspect we may accept a decent bid for him in summer from a non PL club. FSG need to sign a new younger version of Robbo in their early 20s that. Zm give us 7-8 seasons of top class service.

True but jag 3 points against Madrid and we could probably rest players for one if not both of the CL fixtures as we’d already be in the top 8. It’s the Christmas New Year PL fixture crush that worries me.
