Because players don't tend to watch that much outside of prep for their next game. Player voted things tend to be a popularity contest of players the media speak about the most. Outside of England I doubt Mo gets talked about.

Yeah a 3 year deal seems a no brainer. If Mo drops off in 2027 we can easily shift him to the Saudis for a pile of cash with 1 year left on his contract to the ME.

There's more risk with Virg in that regard as defenders generally are not what developing leagues are after in terms of star players. Not even the Saudis will cough up big money for elite defenders in their mid 30s.
