Said it a year ago but Mo is at least equal to Gerrard, if he stays another 2-3 years and break more records then he'll surpass Gerrard
Sheer ability, I dont think anyone touches Gerrard. He could do EVERYTHING.

But Mo is unbelievable. He's approaching that rarified air of Kenny Dalglish and Steven Gerrard which is some company.

If he signs another contract, more record will fall his way.

He's the defining player in our era of renewal, our ascendancy back to legitimacy as a top club after 2 decades in the (relative to the elite) wilderness. Absolutely up there with the greats of the greats, only really missing some boss finals performances to elevate him. That's why Gerrard is head and shoulders #1.

Put it this way: if Salah's name was Maurice Sailor and he was a scouser, he probably would've gone past Gerrard in most people's eyes already.
Maurice Sailor, a classic scouse name. Lost count of the amount of Maurices I met when I lived there to be fair

Nope. I think there is a bit of recency bias here forgetting just how good of a player Stevie was.

Just on Mo, he's moved onto 97 assists for Liverpool in all comps. He sits 8th all time on that list and by the end of the season he will probably go past John Barnes and Ian St John into 6th all time.

He is also sitting on 221 goals now fast approaching the legendary Billy Liddell on 228. He will get that shortly to move into 4th all time on that list. He needs 21 more goals this season to go past Hodgson for 3rd on the list too.

So he could end this season 3rd and 6th all time for Liverpool in goals and assists.

For context Gerrard is 6th and 2nd on those lists and Dalglish is 8th and 1st.

If we take care of Southampton next PL game (and we should), we have the chance to go eight points clear of City the week after.

When we beat City in November 2020, it was to go eight points clear on top (of Leicester City, not Man City, but still).

It's also the only time I've heard Pep talk about it "being maybe someone else's turn to win the league". He's always been a master of the narrative.

Give Mo a contract and let him aim for EPL’s most goals ever. Ridiculous form

The worry for me is international break continues to come at the worst possible time.

However looking at Man City, maybe the first time ever under Pep they’re in trouble? Rodri is a huge loss. Foden isn’t having a great season. But you just think they’ll go in their famous runs soon
97 goals needed, he aint getting that before he is done. Mo doesn't have another 4 seasons left in him. 2 left in his tank at the most IMO.

Top v Bottom, first game back after 2 week international break. All the hallmarks of a danger game that we'd drop points on.

Let's get past that first before discussing 115 charges fc game.

Pep always deflects when things start going pear shaped for him.

He easily has 4 season left in the tank, he just wont be as effective. He could still play for us IMO at 36 much like James Milner did.

It's just he wont be scoring 25-30 a season anymore so catching Shearer is unlikely.

Not that it super matters cos I always find the whole PL leaders thing disrespectful.

If you want to talk top flight of England record goal scorers then Alan Shearer is actually in 5th with Jimmy Greaves top with 357 goals. Mo is approaching the top 50 all time English top flight goalscorers.

50th spot is Peter Dobing with 173.

Mo has 165 and is about to start assaulting that leaderboard. If Mo gets another 20 league goals this season he will move onto the list and up to around 40th.

No he doesn't. No attacking players keep it up at world class PL level into their mid to late 30s. Nobody beats age, end of story.

I would hate for Mo to be finishing up at 36 to 37 like Ronaldo dropping off living off past glories. 2 more seasons would be ideal.
