The three sidekicks to Mo have been up and down but I feel like they all kind of cover eachother.
Jota has 64 goals and 21 assists in 164 games.
Nunez has 39 goals and 21 assists in 125 games.
Diaz has 36 goals and 13 assists in 128 games.
Gakpo has 37 goals and 13 assists in 111 games.
It's an interesting case study. Jota is the best of the bunch but he just never stays fit and when you boil down the numbers Nunez isnt quite the bust people tend to think he is. In 3 less games than Diaz he has 3 more goals and 8 more assists.
Gakpo looks to be a little better numbers wise having score more goals and the same amount of assists as Diaz in 17 less games. But Diaz has been playing out of position much of the season and Nunez over the past year or has regressed more and more to the bench.
It's kinda good though, they are all very good, all can score or assist and you just have to manage them and ride them when they are in form and rotate when they are not. Usually 1 or 2 of them are always going well and when they drop off someone else steps up.
Of course they are a far cry form the machine that Salah is none of them compare to how brilliant Mane and Bobby were but they are certainly doing a job.
Having said that I still think we can upgrade. Would love say Isak down the middle instead of Nunez and perhaps someone of similar quality to Mane which neither Gakpo or Diaz manage to get to. But all in all, it's working.
Be interesting to see if we win trophies this year and if any leave or we try to upgrade of if trophies mean we stick the four of them. Also of course a lot hinges on whether or not we can get Salah to sign another contract.
And just on the Egyptian King, he has now moved onto 234 goals, just 7 shy of Gordon Hodgson for 3rd place. Then there is a bit of gap to Hunt in 2nd and Rush in 1st. I reckon he wants a new contact to go for more records and obviously LFC in a good position to win more trophies. I think he ends up signing on which will be great for us.
