Yeah I'd accepted him leaving for a while now, despite being young as others have said of three he was the one i was most OK with. New system he is a lot less effective and hopefully is replaced by someone with at least some defensive ability.

His head does seem to have grown bigger each year.

Internet starting to say TAA has agreed a contract with Real Madrid.

Feel for him. Going to a souless club and losing the connection with his real club. Fans will hate him.

It's a weird one. A scouser born and bred, living the dream playing for the team he loves and he just ups and ****s off despite us being really good and challenging for trophies all the time. A crazy decision.

Any club that's signed a pre contract with a player is required to inform the existing players club.

The Athletic has said this hasn't happened yet.

Trent has honoured his contract and wants to try something new. He’s been a great player and I’ve loved watching him. I have no ill feeling towards him at all, it’s his life he can do what he wants.
Irks me that he's not looking after the club he supposedly loves. If he's desperate to leave his boyhood club for Real Madrid, the least he can do is secure his club a bag to help rebuild the squad and find a replacement. But leaving for free.. that's super shit IMO.

Think the fan base is gonna turn on him if all these rumours are true and he leaves which looks increasingly likely now.

It's happened already. In this day and age (compared to 20 years ago), I can't see a change of heart being as warmly embraced as Gerrard's was.

Hasn't happened yet. Liverpool would have received formal notification if it had - FIFA requirement for pre contracts being signed. Reliable sources are not saying this has happened yet.

There is no doubt Trent's agent has discussed an offer from Real.

I was talking about the fan reaction.

That's a lovely sentiment. Alternatively, he's screwed the club we love and he can GAGF.

Not the way I'd see it. He's honored his contract, won everything possible at age 26. If he chooses a different path so be it. Personally I would have preferred he did that at 30-31 years old but you can't have everything.

Don't discount his close friendship with Jude. None of this talk was around until he went to Madrid.

I don't buy into that. How many of us work based on where friends are? Does this mean if Jude leaves Real he must follow? You play for a club because you want to, not because a friend plays there.

Madrid wouldn't pay a 'bag' for Trent. I get the feeling him being out of contract is the only reason they are taking him.

We haven't had everything, one title in 35 years. He's free to leave, I am free to be dirty about it.

Surely Optus Sport have got this wrong. They have to be paying him more!

"The Liverpool star has long been expected to swap Anfield for the Bernabeu on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of the season, and multiple reports now say the 26-year-old has finalised a five-year contract worth more than £220,000 (AU$451,000) a week."

He'll get a hefty signing on bonus

Probably getting a 20 million signing bonus on top.

That would be spread over the entire contract or 77k / week on top of 220k wage packet.
