FTA-TV The BigFooty Top 100 TV Shows Countdown (Top 10 Counting Down)

Out of all the shows on this I reckon The Office is the funniest one. By the funniest I mean the amount of belly laughing, and I haven't got around to seeing the Uk version yet. Do people think that Seinfield is actually a "funnier" show than The Office or just a better one if that makes sense?

Seinfeld's more like 'oh that's funny', in the sense that it's so relevant to everyday life and takes the piss out of menial things.

The Office is more awkward funny, which I love.

You'd probably love It's Always Sunny if you haven't seen in yet. Definitely made me lol more than any other show I've watched.

Give it a try and you'll find out.
Why should I though, when I have never liked medieval type shows? Only reason I ask is that plenty of people who watch it that I know have never been into these type of shows before, but love GoT.

Surely you can give a brief description as to what differentiates it from so many other shows?

Think the top part you wrote answers it for you. I've never been a fan of fantasy shows either, the characters are quite more realistic than what you see on most shows, and its set in quite a dark world.

It has very good source material to go off as well, as all the books are critically acclaimed.

I was thinking it might be fun to do a top 20 or 30 animated shows. I'd be happy to run that if there was enough interest.

With people's favourite kids shows, plus Adult Swim style shows and anime I think you'd get an interesting countdown.

Kinda feel that miniseries are beasts of their own, which is why I didn't put any on my list.

But yeah, BoB is just about flawless. If I was to do it again it's an easy top 10, but I'd have Generation Kill higher.

Just smashed thru Gen Kill this week, awesome show, thanks for the tip :thumbsu: Ransone cracked me up every time he opened his mouth.

I'm in ... like the sound of that one

Which of course means you can come back now Jerry....

The show about nothing.

Excuse me while I throw up. I have never seen the fascination with this show. I have tried to get into it but just can't.

Meanwhile the lack of Dallas in this list borders on criminal.

Top three shows are great, would of changed the order of them though. Simpsons>BB>Seinfeld

I'd have arrested development top 5 too, fantastic show.

Top 100 TV show characters, has this been done?

I haven't seen Breaking Bad (I really should), but let's be serious, The Simpsons has been terrible for more than half the time it's been on the air. I live and breathe The Simpsons seasons 3-9 but the rest of it really makes it pale in comparison to opuses like Seinfeld.

FWIW, Curb Your Enthusiasm would be my #1. Seinfeld #2. Spewing I didn't get in on the voting for this thread, but it's finally given me the inspiration to get around to watching dramas like Mad Men and Breaking Bad. :thumbsu:

In any case, since the countdown has come to an end, just want to say a big thankyou to all the people who have supported it, either through voting on the list or commenting on the results. Given some of the conduct on other boards, it's good to see that we have a fairly vibrant and healthy community on the Media board.

OF course, huge thanks to benji2 in stepping up when I had my computer failure and lost all my information. Without his massive effort, we wouldn't have been able to see the remaining 60 shows of the countdown.

As for the future, I leave in two weeks for Europe, so it's not really feasible for me to run any more at this time. Caesar has already taken the idea and run with it with his Top 25 animated shows, so make sure that you get over and vote on that if you haven't already. Hopefully we see more of these in the future - they're great for discussion and for the community as a whole.

I have some other ideas for interesting threads, but it'll all have to wait until I get back. Unless I'm gored by a bull in Pamplona or get into a fight with the Barmy Army of course.

Where else are you headed in Europe?
