No, not the buddy ball, its the buddy handshake

Its a new campaign launched by someone/thing for anti bullying. That in itself is a good thing theyre going to the effort to solve a pretty big problem, but does anyone else crrriiiinnngggeeeee at this stupid handshake theyre putting on kids?

It seems like possibly the worst thing you could do to stop bullying. God help any of these kids if they attempt the buddy handshake on someone who has given them trouble in the past, they'll be laughed out of the halls

Opens up major doors for greater alienation. ie a group of bullies either not doing it and making fun of people who do, or not allowing certain people to do it with them etc.

I guess its hard to write down all of the possibilities at once, but overall I cant see it working.

Not to mention seeing adults on talkshows talking about it and really forcefully flogging the idea that adults cant do it down our throats

Hopefully I guess 99% of kids will just laugh it off as something stupid and it'll be forgotten

but does anyone else crrriiiinnngggeeeee at this stupid handshake theyre putting on kids?

Saw it on the news tonight.Did they get a black American kid to come up with that handshake ?
It was stupid

It was the Allanah and Madeline Foundation that launched it,so maybe Grant Hackett invented it on one of his benders before they boned him last week.

Lol. More corporate PC bullshit foisted on kids.

Each of the sixsteps that make up the Buddy Handshake represent the values of the Foundation’s bullying prevention program, ‘Better Buddies’ – caring for others, friendliness, respect, valuing difference, including others and responsibility.

Oh lord.

Personally, if I was going to introduce a handshake for kids, I'd just rip off the Troy and Abed handshake from Community and just put a bow on it or something.

Speaking of handshakes, does anyone else hate when you go to shake some guys hand, and he has one of those pansy like grips.

Not suggesting it needs to be a show of strength or anything, just a quick firm handshake. Don't understand guys going for a light grip - just feels weird and awkward.

Who comes up with this shit? Were they ever a kid themselves?

I always wonder that too. When i was at school the official way to stop getting bullied was to tell the bully that you don't like it and how it makes you feel. Pretty obvious how successful that is against bullies.

Silly nonsense designed to make people feel like they're achieving something.

It does nothing to actually get at the root causes of bullying nor does it attempt to find out why kids who are bullying are the way they are; it doesn't have any actual practical use in the schoolyard or outside of school and doesn't offer any practical help on how to stop long-standing bullying that's been going on for a kids entire life or at least a long time.

I hate this shit. If you really get into this then you're a fool who will have little to no effect on society's 'bullying problem'.

I honestly thought it was a joke ad at first, with that stupid looking "newsreader". Also the "grainy video footage" looked like something a pedo would be recording, and it was on an ad for a children's charity

Sadly these days if you do that, you're likely to receive a harsher punishment than the bully.

If I have a boy I'll start him off in some sort of combat sport from quite a young age to build mental and physical toughness.

This handshake crap is a joke, I don't see it working a lot with girls (who are capable of some pretty cruel shit too) either.
