Something that I haven't seen much discussion about are the bye rounds and it's understandable given they are 3 months away. However there are a couple of really important things people should be considering.
Firstly: Gold Coast and Port Adelaide have their bye in round 9 after the game in China. As a result premiums from these teams should not, without much consideration, be picked. That said they are worth their weight in gold after round 9 as they will play all 3 major bye rounds
Secondly: As a secondary result of the GC PA round 9 bye the round 12 bye only comprises of 4 teams; Geelong, WCE, North Melbourne and Richmond. This means there will be less impact on your team in rounds 12.
Thirdly: As an example say by round 11 you have 20 premiums in your team. Currently of the top 20 most popular premiums only Dangerfield and Dustin Martin will play both rounds 11 and 13. In other words over rounds 11 and 13 you would have an average of 9 premiums scoring 0. As a result the value of rounds 12 bye premiums is significantly increased. Outside of the 2 already named options are slim.
For your consideration: J. Selwood, T. Goldstein, M. Priddis, S. Mitchell, A. Gaff, L. Shuey, T. Cotchin
I personally have locked in Gaff; priced at 93.5 he averaged 105 in 2015, and removing his injury affected month averaged 100 in 2016, he had a strong showing in JLT4 and will be the recipient of plenty of +6s thanks to S. Mitchell's recruitment. I see him averaging the 105 again whilst gaining $70k value and being a vital part of my team in rounds 11 and 13.
